If you thought that the year 2005 had its share of biggies, you're grossly mistaken. There's going to be an avalanche of biggies in the next twelve months, all produced by A-listers. From Yash Raj to Karan Johar to Vidhu Vinod Chopra to Ramesh Sippy to Subhash Ghai to Rakesh Roshan, don't be surprised if you witness two biggies [on an average] hitting the marquee every four weeks.

Yash Raj will have at least four releases next year: KABUL EXPRESS, FANAAH, DHOOM 2 and the Shimit Amin-directed film with SRK in the lead. Karan Johar will be ready to face the audiences with KABHI ALVIDA NA KEHNA, while Rakesh Roshan is expected to release KRRISH in the first half of 2006.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra will have two releases next year: EKLAVYA – THE ROYAL GUARD and the sequel to MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S., titled MUNNABHAI MEETS MAHATMA GANDHI… Nikhil Advani, whose directorial debut KAL HO NAA HO had released in Diwali 2003, will release his second venture, SALAAM-E-ISHQ, in Diwali 2006 [yes, he has already confirmed the date].

After the success of MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI, Sajid Nadiadwala will be ready with his new film JAANEMAN in 2006, while cousin Firoz A. Nadiadwala will release the sequel to HERA PHERI, called PHIR HERA PHERI, at the start of the year… Subhash Ghai will have two releases in 2006: SHAADI SE PEHLE [directed by Satish Kaushik] will come pehle [February], followed by 36 CHINA TOWN [directed by Abbas-Mustan] in May… Ramesh Sippy will also have two releases in the first half: TAXI NO. 9211 [directed by Milan Luthria] and FEAR [directed by Vikram Bhatt].

You saw Aamir Khan sporting a different look in MANGAL PANDEY, but in RANG DE BASANTI, releasing in January, the skilled actor will be sporting a contemporary look… Shemaroo's adaptation of OTHELLO [directed by Vishal Bharadwaj], Sohail Khan-K. Sera Sera's PARTNER [directed by David Dhawan] and T-Series-Raj Kanwar's joint venture HUMKO DEEWANA KAR GAYE will also make it in 2006… Salman's first step towards Hollywood, MARIGOLD, will also strike in the new year.

J.P. Dutta is shooting UMRAO JAAN at breakneck speed and it should make it in the second half of 2006… Indra Kumar's PYARE MOHAN and Boney Kapoor's MILENGE MILENGE are expected in the first half of 2006... The year 2006 will begin with Sanjay Gupta's ZINDA, the first biggie to hit the screens in January.

By the way, the above-mentioned list does not include films made by RGV, Priyadarshan and Mahesh-Mukesh Bhatt, who have multiple releases each year.
