Bobby won't do that for films!

Actor Bobby Deol says he would hate to indulge in appeasement to further his film career.

''If this stand of mine is considered to be detrimental for not taking my career to brighter prospects, I love the way I am. Being the youngest in my family, I am brought up in this manner,'' he said.

''I do not require to go the extra mile to get work. If big time producers and directors want me in their films, they would take me,'' he said when asked about criticism that he is laidback and does not take his career seriously.

He said he liked to work with filmmakers who are very passionate about movie making.

Bobby, who has opened a resturant at Fun Republic multiplex in the suburbs, said he was looking forward for the shooting schedule of Anil Sharma's 'Apne' where the entire Deol clan, including he, his brother Sunny, father Dharmendra will come together on screen.

''It is a very emotional film which all fathers and children would identify with. Kiron Kher plays the mother. Shilpa Shetty is cast opposite Sunny and Katrina Kaif opposite myself,'' he added.

'''Apne' is based in north India (Chandigarh) because we are from the North,'' Bobby said.

Speaking about his father who turned 70 recently, Bobby said, ''We are an extremely close knit family and the biggest gift we give each other is by being together. My father had to be in Delhi for his birthday this year. Usually, we have a small puja for his well-being on his birthday'' Bobby added.

When asked about his forthcoming film 'Dosti' directed by Sunil Darshan, Bobby said his personal friendship with Akshay Kumar comes across well on screen and expressed confidence that this would work in favour of the film.

'Dosti' starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta will be released on December 23.

''I share a great rapport with Akshay Kumar. We have known each other for five years since we first worked in 'Ajnabee'. Even our wives are friends and are in the business of furnitures,'' Bobby said.

He further stated that he had no apprehensions about the fate of 'Dosti' directed by Sunil Darshan.

Bobby denied that their last film together 'Barsat' was a box office failure. ''The film did well in north and UK,'' he asserted.

He said Darshan and he are planning another film together details of which will be announced in February.

Speaking about his role in 'Dosti', Bobby said he plays a 'richie rich' character who does not have a communication with his family and craves for attention, while his friend is his anchor in life. Many films have been made in Bollywood on the theme of friendship. ''Friendships have been part of the larger plot except for my father's film 'Dost' and 'Sholay','' he added.
