As Diana Penty joins the Bollywood bandwagon, we look at some other faces from the ramp who'll be taking filmi glamour a notch higher this year
DIANA PENTY in Rockstar
Perhaps being based in Mumbai helped Penty become a part of tinsel town. Even then, it was tough competition for 25-year-old Penty, as she beat the likes of Sonam Kapoor and Anushka Sharma to bag the role opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Imtiaz Ali's next, Rockstar.
MONIKANGANA DUTTA in Guzaarish
Another Mumbai-based model, Monikangana Dutta, became the toast of the town when Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached her to be a part of Guzaarish, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Even though Monikangana got the seasoned Bollywood welcome by being linked with her co-star Hrithik, she has held her ground and only spoken about her role.
ANUSHKA SHARMA in Shaadi Mubarak
Anushka Sharma wanted to become a serious model and started her career on the ramp in 2007, with a show for Wendell Rodricks at the Mumbai Fashion Week. She even walked at the fashion week in Delhi, so when Anushka debuted opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, many wondered about her leap from ramp to reel. But Anushka's acting skills were widely appreciated, and she is now being seen in Badmaash Company, and will be spotted soon in Shaadi Mubarak.
AMRUTA PATKI in Hide And Seek
Model Amruta Patki was spotted in the flick, Hide And Seek, earlier this year, where she played the leading lady. Even though Amruta is a successful model, she found her calling in acting. And, just like it happens in the movies, she went from one audition to another, never losing hope, till the time she was chosen for Hide And Seek.
SONAKSHI SINHA in Dabanng
Even though Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi could have asked for a readymade launchpad, courtesy Shotgun's rapport in B-town, she chose to walk the ramp first. After being a part of two successive fashion weeks, Sonakshi signed her first movie, Dabanng, opposite Salman Khan. lucky girl!
