Watched it this weekend. What a delightful movie. Brilliant, brilliant. Ajay and Koko were brilliant and Paresh completely steals the show. My favourites scenes list is a long one, but to name a few, the Beedi bhajan, kaaliya scenes, and the jail scenes. 😆😆
If you have not seen this movie yet, then what are you waiting for? Go to your nearest theatres NOW and watch it. We complain always that why do good movies don't do well on theatres. Well, here's your chance. Story is amazing, screen play brilliant, and everyone's acting including the supporting cast is just icing on the cake. I must mention the kid who plays Ajay and Koko's son. He is adorable.
Where I went, there wasn't many people, so you'll easily get the tickets. Watch it for a great time. Worth spending your $10 on (or whatever is the cost in your area). 😃😃
My rating: 5 out of 5

Movie Review: Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?(2010)

By SAMPURN
March 7th, 2010

March 8 2010 (Sampurn Wire):Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?: A clean family comedy

Rating: 3 out of 5*

Starring: Ajay Devgan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Paresh Rawal

Director: Ashwni Dhir

Lambodar (Paresh Rawal) comes to Bombay from Gorakhpur and lands up at the house of Puneet (Ajay Dev gan), his nephew. Puneet and his working wife, Munmun (Konkona Sen Sharma), had least expected the guest and were, in fact, not even aware that they had an uncle called Lambodar. Trying to be the ideal hosts, they conceal their annoyance and behave well with him and extend their hospitality to the fullest to make him feel comfortable. The crass Lambodar, on the other hand, irritates them with his crude acts and actions. How ever, he has his good side too – among other things, he brushes up their child's Hindi, much to the joy of his teacher. Yet, Lambodar soon gets on the nerves of the hosts. Puneet and Munmun begin to despair when Lambodar refuses to leave. Driven to their wits' end, they use different tricks to make him leave but somehow, nothing works as the thick-skinned Lambodar refuses to budge. What happens thereafter is revealed in the climax.

The story (Ashwini Dhir) may be thin but it is one which every family can identify with. Therefore, by its very nature, the film is a fare for the family audience. However, the screenplay is replete with toilet humour (Lambodar keeps polluting the atmosphere by passing gas, and Munmun keeps spraying room freshner thereafter), which becomes repetitive after a while. The screenplay, penned by Robin Bhatt, Ashwini Dhir and Tushar Hiranandani, is enjoyable but it has its limitations. It must be mentioned here that the crude humour will find favour with a section of the mass audience which will enjoy the jokes.

Among the plus points are the opening commentary and the animated sketches of the characters to explain the film's theme and the way in which Lambodar asks Munmun to cook food for him. Dialogues (Ashwini Dhir) are witty and funny. The domestic help's arguments with Munmun and Lam bodar are novel.

Ajay Devgan acts well. Konkona Sen Sharma is wonderfully natural. Paresh Rawal performs pretty naturally. Satish Kaushik leaves an impact as the film director. Akhilendra Mishra impresses with a fine performance. Sanjay Mishra gets limited scope but is good, all the same. Viju Khote is hilarious.

Pritam's music is far from good. Except the parody of the 'Beedi jalai le' song from Omkara, the other songs lack appeal.

On the whole, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? carries good appeal for a family audience expecting to see a clean comedy devoid of adult humour.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge? – Hindi Movie Review
Athiti Tum Kab Jaoge? stars Ajay Devgn, Paresh Rawal and Konkana Sen Sharma. Directed by Ashwini Dhir (One Two Three) the movie talks about a situation wherein a guest comes over uninformed and has an extended stay. Paresh Rawal plays the role of Chachaji in the movie.

The story is about Puneet (Ajay Devgn) and Munmun (Konkana Sen Sharma), a couple happily married with a 6 year old son. Their lives take a turn when a relative (Rawal) visits them. The rest of the movie is all about the tricks the couple tries, to get rid of chacha.

The movie starts off well and the introductory scene of Paresh Rawal is extremely funny. The first half is a joyride full of deftly executed sequences. The second half suffers to an extent, due to predictability and slow pace. The writers have sensibly avoided the romantic angle, yet Konkana Sen Sharma and Ajay Devgn share good chemistry.

The story is good, has a good little twist in the end. The director also never tries to make you laugh; it's the situations that leave a smile on your face. Clearly, Ashwini Dhir is inspired by the Hrishikesh Mukherjee style of filmmaking. Clean and a typical 70s – 80s family entertainer it is, but as good as some of those classics, it is not.

Paresh Rawal is excellent, a flawless performance by the veteran. Ajay Devgn does his job well. Konkana Sen Sharma is effective as Munmun. Sanjay Mishra is in top form.

To sum up, if the Akshay Kumar brand of slapstick comedy is what you like, you'd be better off waiting for Housefull to hit screens. Otherwise, go give this a try; you will walk out with a smile on your face.

Cast & Crew:

Cast: Ajay Devgan,Konkona Sen Sharma,Paresh Rawal,Satish Kaushik,Akhilendra Mishra

Producer:
Kumar Mangat ,Amita Pathak

Director:
Ashwani Dhir

Music Director:
Pritam Chakraborty
