'Full of life is the best way to describe Ranbir,' says Katrina adding 'And me too'.
Dressed in a short pink dress, actress Katrina Kaif, who came calling at the Fame Multiplex in Fatima Nagar to promote her latest flick 'Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani' looked her resplendent 'Barbie Doll' best as she navigated her way, not only through cheeky questions regarding the movie and her varied roles but also regarding her personal life, with a bright smile on her face.
"Ajab …is not a romantic comedy but a comedy romance," quips Kaif, about her latest film that is all set to hit theatres across the nation on November 6. "The comic timing of the movie is very different from other romantic comedies that I have done. Director Rajkumar Santoshi has a totally different take on comedy. While he is mostly known for his hard-hitting blockbusters, his only other comedy 'Andaz Apna Apna' went on to achieve the status of a cult film, so I am hoping that's what he will do with this movie too." The film has Kaif paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor and the swashbuckling chemistry between the two has been a topic of constant discussion for tabloids as well as the public. "Ranbir is like this complete mirror image of me. I mean, the sheer amount of energy and vitality that he brings to the sets is infectious. One moment, he could be shooting a poignant romantic scene and the very next instant, when the director shouts 'Cut', he will run off to play cricket or baseball with the unit members. The reason why we hit it off so well on screen is because we are just the same off screen. Full of life would be the best way to describe Ranbir," she says. "And me too," she adds as an afterthought. As far as being typecast for her roles as an NRI girl falling for a local boy, Kaif says, "There was a phase in my life where I would get this sense of dj vu while doing a scene where I'd feel, "Haven't I already done this song, or this dance, or this mushy love scene before? I was worried of being slotted as just another pretty face. But then, New York came along and although my role was small, it was a pivotal one and was appreciated by critics and audiences alike." Kaif says she wouldn't stop doing the happy and fun films, simply because that's a phase of her life where she is in right now. "All I want to do is make audiences laugh, feel happy and go back with a huge smile on their faces," she adds cheekily. The film's gruelling shoot took a toll on the pretty lass more than once. She had to battle everything from fatigue due to shooting for 23 hours in a row, to getting whacked in her nose, by her onscreen lover accidentally. "There was an action scene in the movie, where Ranbir had to pull me towards him, as he landed a punch on a goon. Ironically, during the shot, he managed to whack my nose with his elbow, which had me sobbing like a little girl right in the middle of the scene. Even though he was sweet and apologetic about the accident, I made him swear that he wouldn't do action movies for the next two years, at least."
About her future projects Kaif says, "I am really looking forward to a lot of cool things happening in my life, right from doing some more comedies to the much-anticipated Rajniti, I am doing it all. So, there really isn't much time for Mr Perfect and the rest in my life right now, but yeah, someday, when the time is right, I am sure I'll bump into him and flash a huge 70 mm smile to seal the deal." And we can safely say Amen to that.
