The actor says that when it comes to Aarav's upbringing, he tries to emulate his own dad. "With Aarav, I struggle to be as consistent as my dad was with me. Luckily I am in a profession where I can take my family wherever I go. Most often, Aarav is with me on outdoor shoots. Only when he has school do we miss out on that. Even then I sit with my secretary Bali and look at Aarav's schedule and try and match the dates and give them to the producer. That's the responsibility I must take up as a father," he says.
There is one more responsibility he is willing to take. His last release Blue was criticised and said to lack soul. "I agree that Blue had no soul. It was purely an action film. And I signed it because it was an action film," he says candidly.
Akki has been busy with his martial arts championship, which got over yesterday. The entire championship -- which includes four days of lodging and boarding 1,200 children from all over the country -- is funded by Akshay himself. "I think I owe this to the art. I started as a martial arts instructor and could get into films only because of it. People said, 'action film hai, Akshay ko role de do'. I didn't know what acting is, for that matter I still don't know. I have been lucky to survive so long," he says.
Coming back to family, mom-in-law Dimple Kapadia will be playing his mother in Nikhil Advani's film. "Oh, I will feel more homely on the sets," he says laughing. "I am thrilled to have Rishiji (Kapoor) and her play my parents in the film," he says.
