Hi guys,
I never post in this forum, but this was too juicy to pass up. With SRK's recent decision to travel less to the US because of his questioning ordeal with authorities, how do members feel about it? And do your feelings about SRK the actor affect your answer? Do you think he is justified? Or is he overreacting? Why or why not?
I think a part of me feels that the episode was blown out of proportion and therefore he should not have to feel he cant travel to the States. But another part can understand the way stars are treated in India, a man like him would react the way he is, with emotional upset and a wish to put it behind him by not coming here.
Like, the way cricket players and actors are regarded in India, they never have to put up with searches and routine checks that average Indians have to do. Here is a man regarded as legendary in his own time. So for him to come here, and have to deal with this is unheard of for someone in his native land.
At the same time, even in the States, I dont think actors and actresses really can avoid searches and checks because we are all subject to them, and they shouldnt be able to avoid it. I mean, if an actor gets picked up for a DUI, then he gets taken downtown and tried for it. That shouldnt change. So, the same policy in regards to international security.
As if I have said before in another post, if they had gotten physical with him and accused him of being a terrorist I would understand but I guess mere grilling didn't really strike me as odd. Honestly, if you could see bruises on SRK's face and hands then yes I could understand the flag burning and protests.
In a way, both sides are right. The authorities were doing their job and SRK was doing his. And because everyone is human, we all make mistakes. I still stand by what the Newark airport has done because it's our safety in question and not the feelings of one man. No matter how big an A-list star he is. š³
Note: No offense intended to fans of SRK. Mods can close this if already posted.
