Both karan productions are on terrorism and seems like the first official still for both Kurbaan and MNIK have come out relatively at the same time.

Kurbaan

Emphasis on the couple's relationship it seems. In both pics, the guys are lost in their own world while both women (kareena and kajol) are entirely into them.

Its a good thing that both movies are coming out a year apart. Looks like strong roles for all four!

I just hope Kajol and Kareena have substantial roles, and are not there just to play the love interests!

I LOVE Saifs look in this movie, he looks much better than he did in LAK!

That's what I'm hoping for. I want both Kajol and Kareena to have very strong characters, and not just be the counterparts for Srk and Saif.

I hope karan doesnt let em down!

But it does seem like both Srk and Saif have VERY STRONG roles, so in that regard, the guys are set! Just have ot wait and see if the women have just as strong characters.

Even if there roles are not as strong as SrK/Saifs, there should be performing scope for them, and there characters should equally contribute to the screenplay.

Im not to stressed about the length or if they have author backed roles etc.... Even if it is that one scene they really stand out and excel because of performance scope, then that will be enough for me.

As Karan is behind these projects (one as director, the other as producer respectively) it assures me alittle that he wont waste the talents of Bebo and Kajol. He knows both the women can produce histronics, and the better there roles are etched out, will only be better for the movie in totality!

He wouldnt bother signing on the likes of Kareena or Kajol if the roles didnt require fantastic actresses!

And apparently Karan was so happy with Kajol and Kareena's work that he decided to sign em for the stepmom remake while he was workign wtih em, so that assures me a lil bit!

I gotta say though, Srk and Saif look fantastic!

And same with Kajol and Kareena!

I'm actually kinda glad that MNIK is coming out next year and not clashing with Kurbaan, coz I dont want these four to be competition for each other. I hope they all get appreciated immensely and it'll be good to give a gap between teh two movies!

@ Desigirl: I know, stepmom remake is going to be awesome and Im really happy Karan selected Kajol and Bebo for there roles, both are so apt for there parts.

You are right about the release, also as the projects are primarily on the same subject, though the treatment and screenplay is totally different, Im glad there is a gap between them!

But if both were releasing this year, and with all the other movies released and yet to come this year, the awards for best actor and actress would have been so hard to choose from! Whatever happens I just hope this year, finally Saif is awarded Best actor for LAK (he was brilliant in both characters), this year it has to be him!

Alia_Khan50, I WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree.

I know we were all initially disappointed that MNIK was postponed, but now that I think about it, its for the best of BOTH movies that they maintain a gap between their releases.

And you're so right, this year I raelly feel that Saif should be awarded the best actor award. And if not for Love Aaj Kal, I really feel that with Kurbaan he might just clinch is. He's such a brilliant actor, that its a shame he's never won a popular award for best actor.
