Asks Jaya Bachchan, taking up for her darling bahurani

Most of the industry derided Ashutosh Gowariker for his impulsive outburst against Priyanka Chopra. The director spoke up about the merits of PC deserving the Best Actress award at the recently concluded event over Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan even came out strongly in support of her bahu's Jodhaa Akbar director.

Eyebrows raised
Several eyebrows were raised at Ashu's mention of Jaya Bachchan on stage, to endorse and substantiate his public objection to Priyanka's trophy.

The forthright Mrs B not only stands up for Gowariker but also gives him a clean chit for mentioning her in his pro-Aishwarya speech.

Nothing against PC
Initially, reluctant to speak on the matter, Jaya makes it clear she has nothing against Priyanka's performance in Fashion, "For all I know, she must be really good in it. I haven't seen Fashion. She's undoubtedly a good actress. I don't have any objection to her winning the award. But I wonder why Aishwarya's fine performance was ignored. I think she and the Jodhaa-Akbar cinematographer Kiran Deohans richly deserved recognition for their work."

When persuaded, Jaya finally opens up. "It is being presumed that Ashutosh unnecessarily mentioned my name regarding Aishwarya's omission from the awards. The fact is, I suggested he bring up the question on stage. We were discussing why Aishwarya had not been given any award for Jodhaa-Akbar. I suggested Ashutosh bring up the matter. When he mentioned my name, he wasn't doing anything wrong."

Very strange
Warming up to the subject of Aishwarya's performance in Jodhaa-Akbar, Jaya says, "The entire principal cast and crew of Jodhaa-Akbar have been rightly nominated for the popular awards and have won also. I find it very strange that Aishwarya who lived her part and looked every inch the royal Rajasthani queen in her body language and overall performance was ignored."

ok now watever little respect i had for the Bachchan family ,, i have lost it

They are making this into THISSSSSSSSSSS big of a deal. Every year, many actors/actresses give good performances...but not everyone can get an award for it, that's why the award is called "BEST" actress, if all the nominees can get the awards , then there would be no point. This is COMPLETE Rubbish..!

and she hasn't even watched fashion, then how does she know if Aish did as good of a job as Priyanka did!!! Man, this old lady needs some life😡😡😡

Oh Goodness 👎🏼 Priyanka doesn't deserve this insult and i hopeee she never work with any member of Bachchans 🤢 They are disgusting, have no manners and doesn't know how to give respect to others. I wonder why are speaking about this issue now. where was she when Priyanka won all other awards..why didn't she created the scene when she announced best actress and Priyanka won for Screen awards?? 🤢 Anyway Priyanka is much better actress and a even better person than these pathetic people. 👎🏼

OMG! They have no respect. Priyanka was brillant in Fashion && ; Def deserved every award she got! I agree ^^ This totally proves that she is a better person than The Bachans will ever be and I bet she would take that over anything anyday !

@zareena : better person indeed, i have officially become Priyanka's fan..she is one classy lady..so much better than this so called "first family" of bollywood👎🏼

Hope she comes with a bang in kaminey, and win all the awards next year too!

and i"ll tell u why they are speaking out now on this awards only, so that they can get publicity for their pathetic starless IIFA awards🤢 I hope now Priyanka also avoids this kind of humiliation.

why dont the bachchans organize a ceremony in their house and pronounce Aish as best actress...Pa can hand the trophy...ma can make a speech, Abhi can do an entertaining dance, Shweta can fly in with the kids and we can all read about it in the blog in the morning😛

whatever happened to being gracious....I think the Bachchans wiped it from their dictionary!

Freakyy i agree with you. No wonder srk is avoiding iifa from past 3 years. Priyanka should avoid this kind of humiliation and i hope SHE does speak up and say few nice words. I love her interviews. I started to like Priyanka from Krrish days. She's very intelligent girl and she isn't proud like some actresses. Priyanka has 2 huge movies, one Kaaminey and second WYR and i am sure she will come with a BANG!!! Plus she's in Don sequel and will be getting many other offers. She doesn't need Bachchans. I want to see iifa so badly now😔

OMG! OMG! I so shocked...seems like the bachchan family's tamasha never ends!! and its sad these oldies also act so immature! Personally I thought Aishwarya was bad! she is the most over-rated actor in the history of Bollywood! In JA/UJ/SR/PP2 her acting was baaaadddd! there was only emphasis on her beauty.On how beautiful she looks from which angle!! In some of the most intense scenes where she could've performed without focus on her beauty she was horrible!! Its right that she didn't win any awards because she didn't deserve any! But still her FIL/AS managed to buy her a few...what are they cribbing about now?

PS: This is my opinion of the issue so, Ash/Bachchan fans don't send ugly PM's if you have an opinion raise it here!

I find it funny that some members on IF, if their favorite actor or actress talk about how someone didn't deserve an award that another person recieved, it's okay because they are being honest.

But since it's Jaya and her family, it's not okay.

First of all, I don't agree with the insult that Ashu or Jaya gave to priyanka. And I would've felt the same way if my favorite actor or actress felt that someone didn't deserve an award they recieved.

I remember when Mudga or however her name it spells. She was saying Asin didn't deserve the awards she got. Mudga's fans were supporting her saying, "She's right, Asin didn't deserve the award."

Anyways, Jaya should know that Aish won an award for best actress in JA, I don't know which award it was though but she did won. And she should watch Fashion because Priyanka did a great job in her role. So both Aish or Priyanka deserve the award
