I think that it's because the strike is over then everybody wants to finish their work.

I'm sure that Priyanka will be there because she will win the best actress award and she doesn't go missed that.

And Amithab is just ambassador and not a jury member. I would like to tell you that it's the bollywood celebs whom cast their votes and not the Bachchans only.

By the way, I'm happy with the guests Bachchans, Hrithik, Sushmita, Anushka sharma, Ritesh and others. I'm sure the show will be great as always without SRK, Salman, Kareena and others.

oh god like srsly some people here gloating about stars' so called "pulling out of IIFA" is beyond sad.. so the eff what if they pull out, their effin loss.. I doubt any of the Bachchans are losing sleep over it, sry to burst your bubble

plus Big B is just an ambassador of the award show and he ain't gonna lose no money or fame or nothing over this..

and some people sarcastically going on and on about how the "Bachchans" are gonna sweep all the awards? UMM SO THE EFF WHAT?

Aishwarya is more than deserving for Jodha Akbar (but obviously she ain't gonna win it and Priyanka's gonna win for that overrated performance in that crapfest movie) and Ash is also without any doubt the most deserving of that star actress of the decade award.. so where is the surprise element in that.. and obviously little B ain't gonna win no award with the exception of maybe that comic actor award or whatever

and since this is a Khan-free event maybe they should stop obsessing over something their angels are not attending..

Why do I care if the Bachans lose sleep over it or not. I guess IIFA's used to half the industry not attending.

Apart from fans of the Bachans, most members on IF, as well as on FF and Bollyspice have the same response. Its IFFA's loss, not the stars not attending.

There are far too many award functions for anyone to fret over not being able to attend one, which just happens to have turned into a family event with certain members of family being awarded with recognition they dont deserve.

Style icon? Abhishek?

Ok fine, Aishwarya deserves the recognition, but clearly, abhishek was never considered a style icon.

and in another note a few years ago when Abhisekh won "best supporting actor" for that KANK movie in every single desi award show, he didn't win the same award in IIFA

so much for Bachchans rigging the results...*MAJOR ROLLING OF THE EYES* meh

In your opinion, did he deserve the style icon award last year? For what? Guru?

And does he deserve to be nominated in teh star of the decade award category with the likes of Aamir, Srk, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan?

Surely some other stars could have deserved that nomination.

well no male actor in Bollywood is a style icon.. ever seen the kind of clothes they wear? YUCK.. IMO anyone apart from his getting that award is just as laughable.. who won the female style icon award? i am sure i can pin point a hundred reasons why she isn't deserving either.. heck the whole award is second hand embarassment..

well he is just getting the nomination to fill in that extra space.. and yeah you must be majorly disappointed your darling "nawaab"not getting a nomination, but if you're gonna put it that way, he is far far off from being anywhere close to the success of those four actors either.. so maybe they should have left the nomination at "four"..

and well Saif never got the kind of hysteria little B got around bluffmaster/B&B time when every man, woman and their dog made him out to be some great star.. in fact during that time every actress/starlet used to talk about him in their interviews and call him "hot"..and i used to think WTF? they had even written off Hrithik Roshan.. and i bet my left kidney that a lot of his haters were all ga ga over him then..

Yeah I woudl have liked for saif to be nominated, but I do know that he's not comparable to any of the other khans. Yet at the same time, I do know he is FAR MORE deserving thatn Abhishek.

I'm not gonna list all the reasons why over here. I've already given my opinion on that.

No matter what you say now, it doesnt take away from the fact that Abhishek was pushed into a nomination that he clearly did not deserve.

So? Award him as style icon during hte years he deserved it. What was the meaning of awarding him for Guru? I mean, atleast give me one aspect of abhishek during the year 2007 that deserved a style icon award, either onscreen or offscreen. Abhishek looked downright repulsive in some apeparances in 2007, let alone a style icon.

Now if you wanna question all actors being nominated, that's anotehr story. But since they have an award in teh first place, then perhaps the BEST one shoudl win?

Ranbir Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, and many others have been well dressed.

I mean there is no arguemnt here. Abhshek did not deserve that award, just as he doesnt deserve this nomination either.

And FYI. Abhishek is the SIXTH nomination, not FIFTH. Wheras for the females, there are FIVE nominations.

Star of the decade ' Male: Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan.

Star of the decade ' Female: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra.

Clearly he was shoved in rather than used as a mere filler.

but Abhisekh definitely deserves over Saif.. who has always been just another random actor and has never had any substantial star power..

about style icon, i could care less about it, every single bollywood actor have an okay moment or WTF moment, none are style icons..

and i have made my points and i ain't gonna reiterate it over and over again and type up an essay.. people are free to have their own opinion.. moving on...
