Expectations from Love Aaj Kal - Page 2

I didn't even know who Imtiaz was... I watched SNT for Ayesha and I loved the movie. I watched JWM for shahid-kareena and I loved the movie. But than someone mention, it was the same person that directed both of these movies... I wasn't surprised though because both the movies had a very cute love story... very fun and light hearted movies. so I love him as a director and he always chooses my favorite actor/actress except for Abhay deol on SNT.

my expectations are sky high and i think i need to tone them down. I love Imtiaz and Deepika, and I like Saif as an actor. And Rahul Khanna is so good looking and talented as well. So the whole package is exciting for me.

i did a whole analysis of what I think the film is about on a different thread.

From this film, I expect well written, interesting characters who are still very real. That is one of the things that I like about Imtiaz's films. His characters have flaws, yet they are completely endearing and very three-dimensional. Especially the female characters. From all his films my fav character is Aditi from SNT, because she is so full of contradictions and has her own mind. And Ayesha did a great job in it.

Then I am waiting for the trademark Imli humour and dialogues. I still have a bunch from both films memorized. : Tumhe sau joote marna pasand hai/ Nirmal Tadi par kardega/ Mujhe bachpan se hi shaadi karne ka craze tha.😆

And music wise RFAK has always been a favorite, plus Mohit Chauhan has been the best of late with Masakkali and Tumse Hi.

As for the comparision with KJo I get the whole idea of a new kind of film that you talk about Desu.

But imagine if KJo directed that scene between Aditya and Geet, when he finds her in Shimla. It would have been so over the top and melodramatic. But the way Imtiaz handled it, it just seemed so genuine and real.

of course, expectations are high.. let's hope its a good movie.. and he doesn't get that 'third movie jinx' people were talking about... i am expecting it to be a good one...

High expectations but at the same time worried because of the 3rd movie jinx feel esp. after such a successful 2nd movie.

what was farhan's third film? was it don? people loved it but it got bad reviews. i've actually liked all three of his movies.

anyway, i totally agree with you Maya about the representation of women in his films. Even in a character like Roop, who doesn't have much screen time you see a strong woman. or Abhay's bhabhi in SNT.

Even Geet. She took her own decisions and when it failed she didn't go back to her house instead she stayed in the convent. Imli's female characters have myriad of emotions just like you and me not OTT.
