Parmeet Sethi's music-based film for Yash Raj bears a striking resemblance to Rock On!!

Actor Parmeet Sethi is all set to make his debut as a director with Yash Raj Films. Incidentally, the film bears a striking resemblance to last year's super hit film, Rock On!! and buzz is that Parmeet's forthcoming film is Rock On!! with a Punjabi feel just like most Yash Raj films.

A source said, "Parmeet is quite excited about his directorial debut and is currently looking for an apt title. The film is based on a group of 5-6 people who form a band for Punjabi rock music. While Shahid Kapur and Anushka Sharma have already been finalised to play pivotal roles, Parmeet has also signed Veer Das and Indian Idol contestant Meiyang Chang as lead actors for the film. The film is based on the life and music of the rock band, and how the music changes their lives and eventually brings them together again."

Those who have watched Rock On!! will instantly realise that Parmeet's film is exactly on the lines of the Farhan Akhtar-Arjun Rampal starrer which is also based on how four friends form a rock band and separate due to internal differences only to reunite for the sake of their passion for music. The only key difference between the two films is that Parmeet's film is based in Punjab while Rock On!! was based in Mumbai as it had an urban feel.

Parmeet Sethi said, "I won't say that my film has got nothing to do with music but it is not exactly based on what you are saying."

While Yash Raj Films' affinity towards Punjabi culture is a well-known fact, making a direct lift of Rock On!! by simply adding Punjabi flavour is taking things a bit too far.

😆😆😆 Couldn't they have waited for at least 10 years? Since it is based in Punjab may be it will have Punjabi flavor.

LOL there might be similarities with the whole music and friends aspect, but I dont think YRF is that dumb to come up with a copy of "Rock On!" that quick.
