Here's taking a look at the brothers and sisters who've rocked the screen
buzz18

Karisma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan

Mohamed's poignant story Fiza, about a sister seeking out her brother after the 1993 riots in Mumbai. Karisma Kapoor plays Fiza and her brother Aman has been essayed by Hrithik Roshan. The film was a hit and the two of them received many offers to work together. But Hrithik who was involved with Karisma's sister Kareena Kapoor went ahead and got married to his longtime girlfriend Suzanne Roshan, leaving Kareena in the lurch. This lead to a souring of ties between the Kapoors and the Roshans and even now they maintain a distance from each other. Pity because the Hrithik and Karisma were brilliant together on screen.

Juhi Chawla and Sanjay Suri

Onir's sensitive film My Brother Nikhil, about a young lad Nikhil Kapoor (Sanjay Suri) who contracts AIDS and has to suffer the repercussions even though he knows he's dying. Juhi Chawla (Anamika Kapoor) as his sister stands by him through thick and thin, and simultaneously takes on their parents. Although both Juhi and and Sanjay have other romantic interests, the film revolves around the bond shared by the brother and sister.

Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman

The eternal trailblazer Dev Anand attempted a bold (for those days) theme with Hare Ram Hare Krishna where Zeenat Aman plays his sister. Prashant (Dev Anand) and Janice (Zeenat Aman) grow up separately as their parents are divorced. Prashant sets off for Nepal to look for his sister, but she's forgotten him, as she's been doing drugs for a long time. Even though he finds her, she dies of a drug overdose. A superhit film of the '70s it made Zeenat Aman into a star overnight. Mumtaz had a small role as Dev Anand's love interest but nobody really noticed her. The stars of the film were undoubtedly Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman.

Aishwarya Raiand Shah Rukh Khan

Most people remember SRK and Ash for their story of undying love in Mohabbatein. But it was actually their film Josh which released first. In Josh they played brother and sister. Although the film did mediocre business, it did send Aishwarya and Shah Rukh's market value soaring. Shirley (Aishwarya Rai) falls in love with Rahul (Chandrachur Singh). But Rahul's brother Prakash (Sharad Saxena) and Max (Shah Rukh Khan) are sworn enemies.

As their other films Devdas and Mohabbatein proved, the SRK-Ash chemistry simply sparkles onscreen. It's a pity that due to personal differences the two are unlikely to work together ever again.

In 'real' life too, our heroes seem to be more caring towards their sisters than they are towards their lady loves. Shah Rukh Khan's sister lives with him at Mannat. Salman Khan will never miss a single event if little sister Arpita requests him to be present. Aamir Khan has his issues with brother Faisal but he is also devoted to his sisters. Soha Ali Khan relies on her big brother Saif Ali Khan more than she does on her mother Sharmila Tagore. Sanjay Dutt's sisters Namrata and Priya continue to stand by him despite his many misdemeanours.

Who are your favourite onscreen brother-sister jodi?
