One catches Akshay Kumar in a jovial mood as he goes round the town promoting his next big film CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA. Though the full–on promotion for this Nikhil Advani directed film would begin only after the release of GHAJINI, Akshay Kumar isn't shying away from giving sound bytes when queried about the film. So, how much of fun can one expect from this film which is the biggest crossover film from Bollywood to the rest of the world?
'A lot', Akshay is quick to answer, 'It is made for all family audiences and is also the first ever authentic Kung Fu film coming out of Bollywood. I don't recollect any movie like this being made earlier.'
In CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, Akshay plays a 'halwai' from Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, who is conned into traveling all the way to China by Ranvir Shorey (who plays the character of Chopstick). From Chandni Chowk to China, how has the journey been?
'An interesting one! For me the character of Sidhu itself is so relatable since I come from the bylanes of Chandni Chowk myself. It's a different matter that I was a Chef in Bangkok in my early years while Sidhu is a 'halwai' before becoming a Kung Fu expert in China', smiles Akshay.
Stating that Kung Fu is the USP of the film, he also quips, 'Me playing 'halwai' is another unique aspect to the film as well. Otherwise you tell me for yourself, how many heroes have played a 'halwai' before on screen?'
