Mumbai, Mar 1: Wonder what's cooking between Bollywood's two sensuous damsels - Kareena and Mallika!

The two can't seem to see eye to eye. Talking to Karan Johar in the popular show, 'Koffee with Karan', Mallika claimed that she could have performed Kareena's 'Yeh Mera Dil' in Don much better.

Incidentally, the feud between Bebo and madame Mallika go a long way! Long back, Mallika had a small role to play in Jeena Sirf Tere Liye in which Kareena played the lead role. If sources at the sets at the time are to be believed, there were cold vibes between the two till the completion of the film, and it was quite evident that they couldn't stand each other.

Mallika apparently had made many attempts to befriend the beautiful Bebo who did not seem a wee bit interested in breaking the tension and never even responded to Mallika's greetings!

Mallika is said to have at that time decided that she would strike back once she got an opportunity, and so when Kareena did Dharmesh Darshan's Bewafaa opposite Anil Kapoor, Mallika went around telling everybody that Kareena was doing a film similar to her Murder though the two films had nothing in common, except that it talked about extra marital affairs.

Knowing Kareena, we can say for sure that she will not take this lying down. Be prepared Mallika!

When Kareena gorged on two pizzas Kareena Kapoor talks about her holiday with her family in Europe.

I last holidayed in…Europe. I had been there last August. We went to Vienna, Switzerland and most parts of Austria.

I stayed at…
I don't remember the name of the hotels. But one was in the heart of the city, surrounded by architectural buildings and a beautiful church.

I dined at…It was a family holiday, so we were trying different cuisines everyday. In Switzerland, there was this place which served amazing pizzas. That was the only time I finished two whole ones. It was the best pizza ever.

I did shop a lot. But basically it was a trip about chatting, reading and relaxing. I picked up the exclusive 85th edition of the Gucci bag.

Kareena Kapoor is on an item-number spree! Yeh Mera Dil in the movie Don created waves throughout. She won applauses when she danced to this track at the Screen Awards as well as the Stardust Awards. And now, the Punjabi kudi is all set to do another item number. Lovely Singh, debutante director of Tusshar Kapoor-Ayesha Takia starrer Kya Love Story Hai confirms, "Kareena is doing one item song for my film."

Kya Love Story Hai is a love-triangle, shot entirely in South Africa. "But this song will be done in Bombay itself," says Lovely, who plans to start shooting for it around the 12th of March.

If you are wondering why Bebo agreed to do an item song once again, here's the scoop. Kareena and Lovely have been very good friends since 2001. Lovely elucidates, "I met her on the sets of Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai." Lovely Singh was assisting Satish Kaushik at the time. "Kareena is a very dear friend, and she always wanted to be a part of my project. Even I wanted her to be connected to my film in some way. So she is doing this song for my film," he says.

Lovely confirms that Kareena's item song will be seen in the film as well. "This song will be used only as a promotional video and will also be seen in the film". Lovely is quite confident that the song will be admired. "The music has turned out to be really good" says the elated director. He is very excited about Pritam's music composition. "I think Pritam has done an excellent job," affirms Lovely.

Also Pritam has great expectations from the song. He says, "We had finished all the songs for Kya Love Story Hai and we were actually waiting for this number to happen. I was working very hard on this song. And finally now we have cracked a very good song for Kareena and she likes it a lot." Apparently, this item number promises to be much bigger and better than the earlier songs for Kareena. Pritam confirms, "I hope after her performance on this song, it will take the song somewhere else all together."

Besides this promising item number, the other songs of Kya Love Story Hai also claim to be excellent. Lovely exclaims, "I like all the songs but there are some that I am really fond of. One is called Miss You Everyday, and then of course there is Kareena's track. Then there is one sad song Jeena Kya Tere Bina, which I like."

The director has put in great efforts to shoot these songs at striking locales in Cape Town, take for instance a retro-song shot in a school bus! "There is a song which we have shot in a moving school bus... It has been shot very differently and I think nobody else has shot this kind of a song in Hindi films. It is an old school bus of the '40s-'50s and the music is also very '50's," avers Lovely, "All the actors are wearing uniforms and sweaters. So it is set against the backdrop of South Africa. It is not at all Indian."

It was a big moment in Sunidhi Chauhan's life when she got to sing Asha Bhosle's boogie-classic Yeh mera dil from Don.

"My version of Yeh mera dil can't hold a candle to Ashaji's original…nothing to pretend about there. If you look at the original song, situation, dancing everything was kamal ka. No one can replicate the original Yeh mera dil.

We weren't even trying. We did the song in a completely different way, and I failed. I sang the song according to the requirement of the scene. I wanted to infuse a certain brightness into this low-key number,but I couldn't."

Sunidhi wanted to re-do the song. "I didn't make that request though I wanted to. See, we never set out to be one-up on Don. In fact the old version is to this day fresh and contemporay. I was so thrilled when I got to record a song that I had sung on stage since my childhood.

To do one of Ashaji's best tracks was a great challenge. I decided I'd give my shot to Yeh mera dil. But I was bound by the character and situation. Which is fine because there's a special challenge in singing within character.

When I sang Yeh mera dil I found it lacking in brightness. That's okay. Eminent scientists make mistakes. Who am I? Frankly I'm neither happy not disappointed. But I'm all for Farhan Akhtar's vision. Let me add, I didn't sing Yeh mera dil with Ashaji in mind." Sunidhi who has sung one of her best song Bhaage re man in Chameli for Kareena is slightly disappointed by Kareena's emoting to Yeh mera dil. "I'm no one to comment on this. Kareena knows how to carry herself. She's exceptionally beautiful and expressive, she can play anything from a goddess to a vamp.

I just wish she had worn a black or red gown instead of a golden one for the song. Helenji gobbled everyone up with her eyes. Kareena could've done the same…And I wish Shah Rukh had gelled his hair and made a ponytail. He'd have looked like a full-on Don. I've been on world tours with Shah Rukh. Trust me, he'd have looked stunning."

Why is Sunidhi singing less songs these days, and why not more love ballads? "Not at all! I'm singing 2-3 songs every day. There was a trend of chartbusters from me. Then a lull in release, not in my singing. Now let me tell you I've sung a love balld for Ismail Durbar's in an English-language film called Interminable. It's a semi-classical song.

I can't believe Ismailji has tapped that quality in my voice. Then I've sung for a non-film album with Ustad Sultan Khan called Ustad & The Divas with songs composed by Sandesh Shandilya.

I wish some of my ballads were as successful as the brisk numbers. They clicked in an earlier era. And singers then were fortunate to belong to that era. But I'm lucky to be getting and being accepted in both kinds of songs."

Why is she so low-profile? "You'll never catch me at parties and music launches. My presence makes no difference to these. I won't go where my presence isn't respected. I'd any time go to a Vishal-Shekhar music launch.

But others treat me like just a vocal tool. Why should I be where I'm so indispensable? As long as people are happy with my work I don't need to be visible."

Shahid, Kareena in Love Story
Director Imtiaz Ali is set to direct Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor, one of the most talked about Bollywood duos, in his next romantic flick.

Ali had earlier directed the critically acclaimed "Socha Na Tha", which was Abhay Deol's launch vehicle.

To be produced by Shree Ashtavinayak, the film's shooting is set to begin from March 20 in places like Mumbai, Chandigarh, Shimla and Kullu-Manali.

Manish Malhotra, one of the most sought after designers in the Hindi film industry, will team up with Sabina Khan to design costumes for the duo.

The rest of the cast will be announced shortly.

Kareena left due to Hrithik!

Hrithik Roshan had been having second thoughts about doing Zoya Akhtar's directorial debut Kismat Talkies. It's now official: Roshan Jr has opted out of Zoya's film. As if that wasn't bad enough, co-star Kareena Kapoor too has given the project a miss. Producer Ritesh Sidhwani (who runs Excel Entertainment along with partner and Zoya's brother Farhan Akhtar) had earlier told us that they would start filming in May 2007 as Kareena had given dates from then on, but then Hrithik started demanding changes in the script making Zoya go hunting for a new hero. It is learnt that she spoke to Akshay Kumar, but he too gave her the cold shoulder. Apparently Kareena had allotted the same dates to Socha Na Tha director Imtiaz Ali's next film. A source says, "Once Hrithik opted out, Kareena decided not to do the film either. When contacted, Imtiaz excused himself from telling us when he is starting his film with Kareena. "I am sitting with some people. Let's talk later," he said. The source adds, "Things haven't been easy for Zoya from the time she planned the film. She was supposed to make her debut with a film titled Luck — By Chance in 2004. Unfortunately, the film never took off. But her tone clearly suggested that she was in no mood to defend the actors who have given her so much anxiety. them. Kareena remained unavailable for comments.

Shahid talks about the initial insecurities in their relationship, the positive influence they have had on each from Kareena becoming a vegetarian to Shahid becoming more chilled out and relaxed. Karan: Who are really your friends Bebo?
Kareena: laughs … Oh god!!

Karan: Because the whole story goes that Kareena only befriends people who are not a threat to her …
Kareena: Oh my god! What is this .. Ahh ….. I don't think so .. But the only actress I think I am closest to is Amrita Arora … She is my only genuine best friend whose an actress..

Karan: Three years Shahid, with Kareena..How would you best define your relationship?
Shahid: It goes beyond words. She is the centre of my life .. I can't think of a day without her .. I am very thankful to God for having her in my life … I think I am very lucky …

Karan: Is she the hyper hysterical girlfriend .. Is she the where you are, what you are doing kind of girl friend …
Shahid: She has calmed a lot in the last three years .. but I think every woman has these insecurities .. and I think it takes the two people to understand and deal with each others' areas of ups and downs .. but I think .. yes I am sure she has .. and so do I have these phases of insecurities which we all do .. I think she has come to trust me a lot ..it takes time for things to settle down ..


Karisma: Yes I do ..

Karan: In what way what does he do that he needs taking up for?
Karisma: Well, I mean generally when they are fighting with each other .
I am always caught in the middle of it . and if I really feel that Shahid is right then I really fire Bebo …
