U, BOMSI AND ME, is about couples, who begin to take each other's existence for granted in the hectic pace of day-today life. Vidya plays the role of Bomsi's wife, Shehnaz, a nagging Parsi woman, while producer Bobby Behl (of DHOOP fame) who makes his acting debut with the film, plays the role of Bomsi. "It is about two DINKS (Double income no kids) couples who miss out on love in the pressures of living in a materialistic world," says Vidya. The film has ad-man, Jairaj Padmanabhan making his directorial debut and is scheduled for an October release.
However it is her double take in Amit Saxena's (of 'Jism' fame) TAKE-2, that Vidya is really excited about. In the film Vidya is paired opposite two heroes, Shiny Ahuja and Karan Oberoi. "I have two different identities in the film, one of a model and the other of a fashion designer. I am expecting it to make a major difference to my career," Vidya reveals.
Ask her about her last release MASHOOKA and Vidya hates the mere mention of it. "I don't like associating my name with the film. It was a mistake in my career. When I signed the film, I definitely did not expect it to acquire the tag of a sleazy film. I was impressed with the name of the banner (Time Magnetics). The fact that one of my modeling colleagues, Aditya Bal, was also there in the film, gave me an added assurance. Neither of us realized that the sex element would eventually dominate in the film with Meghna Naidu's presence. Later I realized that I had got into the wrong film but being a newcomer in the industry, I saw no point in confronting the producers or director about it," Vidya recalls.
Thankfully the film hardly registered its presence at the box-office, which has proved to be a blessing in disguise for her. "I am glad I got over it and have decided to be more careful about choosing films, even if it means waiting for the right role to come along," she says.
