Yesterday I created a topic "pooja bedi blocked me on twiter".

The moderator closed the topic and mentioned me not to bring outside matters into the forum. This is so lame.
I fail to understand what is so outside about my topic. If Times of India prints something about BB5 contestants, aren't we suppose to share what we think?
Pooja Bedi was a contestant in BB5 house. Isn't it apparent to you that she blocked me on Twitter because I did not support her words for sky and BB5 team?
I am fine with you closing my topics if you confess that you actually like Pooja Bedi 😛

I have seen people creating topics over tweets or comments posted by third parties for the BB5 contestants. What kind of discrimination is that?

I disagree Penta... when people say Pooja Bedi had a dinner with Laxmi for example... that is outside topic aswell... How do you tell between an "acceptable" topic... and unacceptable one... why are all other twitter topics allowed... why are people allowed to post that Pooja Bedi is in news right now... Why topics like Kolaveri song allowed
as far as, the topic is giving a platform for the members to have a light chat then why not... In my opinion, the topics that instigate the members should not be allowed... like last year we had a few Indo Pak topics... Veena's entry and all that...
This is an entertainment forum... we should have some flexibility in the rules... that let the people enjoy among themselves...
You are not following a government code or running a school that kids must wear the uniform... In my opinion, with due respect... the Moderators seem to have forgotten that this is an entertainment forum
Had it not been for a few good friends, including you Penta,... I would have stopped posting here, completely... and not becoz of the members or topics... but becoz of mods...
Like yesterday, I got sooo irritated due to something that I didnt even post uncensored videos until really late...

Social media has created a conundrum in moderating these boards. It blurs the line between what is relevant and irrelevant to a show.

Strictly in my personal opinion (and how I would interpret and enforce rules) – Only actual show content, legitimate mainstream media content relevant to the show are acceptable.

Twitter, Facebook, blogs, fansites and other social media are irrelevant outside sources and should not be allowed. The only exception being official social media that is directly relevant to the show. Example – X tweets on Y & Z in the show. A's blog posts on show experience etc.

The reason why I think that social media is irrelevant and should not be discussed on the forum is not with the intent of censorship or favoritism but pragmatism.

- One fans/haters addition/deletion to a celebrities twitter account is irrelevant. Its not news, its not sensational, its not worthy. It happens 24/7. It creates a slippery slope for every person to start topics on their additions/deletions to celebrity twitter, FB accounts. These are statements that should belong to a larger discussion.

- Fan/unauthorized blog posts or FB accounts are not credible sources of information or data, but more of speculation or gossip. It creates a slippery slope for anyone to create their own blog/website and build their own speculation.

IF is pragmatically not equipped to handle a potential slippery slope explosion of clutter or flame wars that emerge out of it. It creates chaos and dilutes relevant information directly related to the show.

Most importantly the general 'internet' is a source of free speech. In the 'general cyberspace' a person has the complete right to bash, trash, bitch, praise, worship, stalk whatever. India-forums is an owned platform with its own rules and regulations and is not the platform for unfettered free speech. Membership to forums are privileges and not rights, where members are bound to actually conform and exist in harmony with other members. That is why there has to be a line between the general cyberspace and owned platforms.

I believe that those who want to use free speech to the max should create their 'own platform' for their free speech be it blogs, twitter accounts, websites, FB groups and refrain from conflicting it onto someone else's 'owned platform'.

Even I get confused on who they refer too. You should change your name to "The-Moderator" so we know the difference.

On a side note - I like their rules - http://www.somethingawful.com/d/forum-rules/forum-rules.php

With due respect... No hard feelings... But since you have taken time to copy and paste this whole thingie... Lemme add a link to a post... I dont mean to hurt the feelings of the TM of that post... all I want to say is... if that post is allowed...
https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/bigg-boss-season-5/2656263/drum-rolls-yay-me
and if Congrats Sweta01 can be a sticky... then why cant a member post a fun topic... also not forgetting all the fun topics made by members... where they post a fiction kinda thing about contestants...
How do the mods differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable

I typed it. It was not a copy paste job. It is my 'personal opinion'.

And in my opinion its a frivolous post that I personally would have trashed. IMHO such things are spam.

How do the mods differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable

Its personal opinion and discretion. They try to be objective, but a lot of it is dependent on how one perceives it. Online forums are 'owned' by administrators. What is acceptable depends on who they put in charge.
