What could be the reason? I see Big Brother in may different countries under their specific versions. Why does India have to change it to Bigg Boss? I am sure they must have approached India too.. Since we have versions of game shows and international reality shows.

Why is this different?

Bigg Boss in India is a version of the original Endemol "Big Brother" only.

Except its called "Bigg Boss" perhaps to suit Indian sensibilities. I think

TV show franchises are often renamed or rebranded to suit local tastes. Familial relations, especially of those older are revered in India. So it would not gel well with Indians to have such drama, bitchiness and controversy associated with a family relation term 'Big Brother'.

Big Boss is the probably the closest Indian reference to the 1984 style Big Brother.

1984?? Really!! Is that old? 😲 Yeah, I kinda figured, it they actually used Big Brother India as the title, then they would have to use the entire format as is. Then they would have to also install cameras in the bathroom, even the toilet seat area.. Yuck! Who would wanna see Dolly Bindra take a crap.. 😆

Yeah. that kinda makes sense. 😊 Any other POV?

1984 the book by George Orville
1984 the book where Big Brother is always watching

War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

Time to turn of the telescreen. 😆
