The season has come to en end , we have the winner 👏 (that we always knew will be, but some of us hoped that better not😉). Some are lauding this season to be the greatest in history of BB, well I whole-heartedly disagree to this and thought to put in my 2 cents.
This was not a season that should be a benchmark. Here is why -
1. Bias - This is one point that DEFINES this season. BB is 60-70% scripted lets face it. But this time the bias was so blatant and in your face it was unbelievable and the channel didn't even try to mask it. The editing was done to show the winner as holier-than-thou, censoring every bad word that she has said against others. Funny thing, that censoring didn't even work, people could see through it.There are allegations now that Colours already chose SS for a show and scripted this season just for the sake if increasing the winner's popularity, well I want to believe that's just a controversy theory, but who knows man.😆
2. Predictable - The final top 3 contestants were expected to be the final top 3 right from the first week of the show. No one stood a chance against them. Ofcourse a very big upset was Hiten Tejwani but he showed his cards within the first 2 weeks. He simply did not show the promise he was expected to. Even Akash, Punish were above him in terms of making their presence felt. He never seemed like a finalist.
3. Staged Upsets - In order to counter predictability, they brought in very very artificial Upsets -
a) First in the form of contestant voting in which Hiten got out. There was no justifiable reason for this Vote Out, atleast they could have pretended there was a tie or something. It seemed like this was done to prove Hiten hadn't really gotten less votes from public but contestants voted him out, so a decent exist for him. It also could mean that because Hiten got the least votes, they wanted Priyank to go and hence held the vote out. In either case it was ridiculous set up.
b) Second Luv vote out in a Mumbai/Pune mall. Matlab seriously??!! 😕 What a farce. This is NOT a regional show. A big part of voting for commoners come from their own families, acquaintance and communities. If you are marking one particular region for voting and putting a north Indian commoner in front of 3 Mumbai celebrities (Vikas now is a celebrity in his own right and definitely will get more votes from Mumbai public than Luv will.) , what else do you expect? Luv has apparently gotten more votes than Hiten & Priyank based on his community vote bank. If it was an all-India voting, he had some chance to stay.
4. Changing dynamics - Of all the seasons that we have seen, this was one with literally so many people flipping every next day it was difficult to keep track. You cannot invest in a character if they are not loyal to a relationship atleast for some time. As an audience I felt betrayed and it all felt like a joke. It was not a positive, in my opinion.
5. Weekend Ka War -This comes under Bias point but have to be spoken separately. Because My God , what travesty was this Weekend ka War , what a sham😆. Salman Khan has his favourites every season, but has it happened EVER that one contestant has been given 100% shield-proof from bashing for THE ENTIRE SEASON?!! I mean it was beyond unbelievable. I know people( and I was one of them) who actually changed sides from supporting Miss Bhartiya Naari Master Chef of the year to outright rejecting her because of this blatant bias. On the other hand, the consistent in-bad-taste treatment to contestants who went against her - Akash, Arshi, Heena , was so in your face. Not being allowed to speak when they had valid points, mocked in the worst possible manner, saying degrading stuff. I mean the look on Salman khan's face when said those degrading stuff was menacing !! It wasn't funny, it wasn't entertaining, it wasn't good television.
6. Message to the viewers - This is the single most important thing that makes it for me the worst season ever. The channel's being biased is one thing (very wrong thing) and for whom they chose to be biased was something wrong on another level. They chose to support a candidate who openly said/did the following
a)Educated girls are the reason behind divorces
b)Made open homophobic comments about people
c)Regularly and consistently taking about sexual preference of people (Salman khan gave others warning about this, for madam, this warning does not apply)
d)Wo ladka hai, wo to karega hi. ladke to kehte hi hain
e)Tum ladke ho yaar, main janti hun, tum kaise control rakhoge (To Punish when he was throwing chappals and eggs on Akash)
f)This disgusted me to the core🤢 - Lucinda ne tab Akaash ke sath maze liye (when she was uncomfortable with Akash)
g)Nominating Lucinda because this is an Indian show ! Wow ! Just Wow !!
h)Comparing Hina and Arshi to Kala Paratha. Saying Bandagi is more beti because complexion matches. 👏👏
This woman is NOT a representative of the Indian society or Indian 40+ women. Such a winner should NOT exist. My 50+ mom got irritated listening to her regressive remarks, even she is more progressive than this woman😡. In the UK version Big Brother when Shilpa Shetty came under fire from Jade Goody for racism , they took action regarding this. But we on the other hand - we have voted and made a person who is a racist, sexist, homophobic person winner of India's biggest reality show. What a message to give !! 👏👏👏
In my opinion, being mean to win a show (which Shilpa did) is not wrong, its a game , you have to be, but there is a line that you don't cross because millions are watching and we are ac18 years into this millennium. The channel shamelessly did just that.
At the same time, if this is person who has innumerable fans to make her WIN and debate FOR her indefensible acts - It makes me feel very uncomfortable. 😕
But well that's me.Probably I just need "Burnol".😆😆
