I read it other way around. Vikas was entirely unknown personality. He could have been exited in couple of week specially he did not have any visible x-factor. Producers/directors get eliminated in very initial round in past too. It was pact between Vikas and Shilpa that Shilpa will torture him and make him victim and noticeable, then Vikas mastermind tag will play role once he get footing. And then Vikas will help Shilpa till end. Even if Arshi was his friend, but Vikas never went against Shilpa although Arshi asked many times.

And there was no one in the house who supported him during that cute nok jhok with Shilpa. Everyone was of the opinion that he is not able to handle it well. When gautam was victimised in his season wheather anyone believe it or not P3 were there with him at least Puneesh. Here all friendships of Vikas were visible only after he made peace with Shilpa. He have 5 weeks out of 15 to that BS. I am glad that he came out of that made cordial relation with Shilpa and played like a boss after that. Everyone in the game after that was ab kya karne wala hai vikas gupta, vikas ko harana hai bas.
As his big supporter and fan I wud say only thing that i didnt like in his journey was how he tried to ran away twice in initial weeks. Rest all was awesome!!
Shilpa obiviously has a bigger fanbase compared to vikas and has that victim card of alleagedly being thrown out by Vikas and a cooking card. Her win is fair and square. We had worse winners in the history of BB. Shilpa is still better. But Vikas being an unknown person coming till top3 and gaining so many fans is an achievement in itself!!
