I have been quite vocal with my support for him this season.
But putting Vikas Gupta under a microscope.
1. His very bold claim the very first day
"Mein katai nahi jaanta tha ki aap (Shilpa) iss show mein aane wale ho. Warna mein zindagi mein yeh season nahi karta"
BOLD. And a Blatant lie.
A simple google search a week before the show would have shown him like it showed the rest of us, that Shilpa was rumoured to enter.
A man of his position, didn't know about it?
Also to add to it.
He knew details about the commoners entering, like Puneesh's alleged child rumor and he also knew that one of Manveer's very beautiful commoner friend (i.e Bandagi) was going to enter, which he later himself confronted both Puneesh and Bandagi separately.
And he didn't know Shilpa was entering?
Lie number 1.

With that lie he started off narrative.
(How innocent/complacent Shilpa is in all this, is questionable. But she just got played again by him is my doubt)
He inadvertently grabbed the attention of the audience and hooked them.
After week 1. When Shilpa toned down, he started making amends
Cause he is a genius and he knows that audience loves redemption arcs.
But then Shilpa went overboard again. And he immediately shifted to Victim mode.
He didn't react the way (spilling tea, abusing) etc like he did in week 1.
He played victim perfectly.
In the middle of all this, Hina became a problem. She started correctly guessing that even if Shilpa was torturing him, he went near her, so as to seek her attention. He purposely used to go and sit where Shilpa sits as pointed out by Hina.
And problem number 2 arised when Priyank came back, with a baggage of insecurities this time. And for whatever reason, he seems to want to protect Priyank to a certain extent
(Evidence, yesterday's extra dose where he himself quite stupidly confessed to Hiten, that he silently protected Priyank when he makes a mistake by smartly and silently diverting attention elsewhere)
But then after that wkw, he caught the drift that his victim drama wasn't being received by the audience as he thought it would.
So he changed tactics once again.
He knew Shilpa was being well received and Hina was not, so he had to tactfully befriend Shilpa naturally.
And he went about it quite smartly.
By supporting her friends and not her directly.
He boldly claimed holding Puneesh's hand that he is standing with him
He took Akash to his side by dissing Ben in their fight.
And Arshi was already his friend.
So by being friends with her friends and making them all think that they are fighting a common enemy (Hina and her dumb moves ). He had legit excuse for spending more time around Shilpa.
And slowly, inch by inch he befriended his biggest enemy by finally telling one more big bold lie.
His selfless sacrifice of his custom made jacket.
"This is a custom made jacket. And it's the only one in the world"
Well - Disney Varisity Lost Boys jacket is giving the same jacket at 30%off if someone is interested.
Also he achieved two things by befriending Shilpa.
1.He got one of the most popular contestants on his side ( he knows she is top 2)
2. Like his strategy in dinosaur task. He knew that Akash and Puneesh would themselves be dumb enough to blame Shilpa and ruin their friendship, allowing him to look more positive. He knew he didn't have to get blood on his hands when they would themselves rip it apart.
Now coming to why I think he came to this show.
Not just for change out of boredom as he claims.
He has no interest winning the show.
He has only one goal.
To leave a strong positive impression in the minds of audience.
He is a part of lot of controversies (most notably Parth Samthan.)
He has the upper hand in the tv industry.
But people like Parth and Shilpa are liked and supported by the general audience.
All he wanted to do with this show is neutralise such advantage.
