Cruiser, marriage is a legal contract of trust. Theoretically, marriage is a mutual unforced decision usually with social approval. So if one cheats, it is a legal crime. Today, if one lives in with another, that is also considered the equivalent of marriage, isn't it? Ofcourse the latter is still suspect in many eyes, but still, it legally carries weight today. Still, to live in comes with its elements of risk to both partners including abandonment and social acrimony.
I am not justifying Salman's abusive behaviour if any in his youth, but that was girlfriend zone and no woman was bound by a contract to suffer (they don't need to suffer abuse within marriage either)- they attached themselves to him because being Salman's gf came with its own perks. Why else would a woman befriend a famous man known to be abusive- falling into the trap of hopes of transforming him? Naturally, both man to larger extent and woman to smaller extent are to blame in these cases imho.
Now, about journalists who have not scoured the relationships of others within. As I said on the other thread, nobody inside the house made an effort to create an image of being this 'bhola-bhala' stereotype. Nobody except Manveer.
Gaurav's past relationships are out in the media with intricate details, Rohan has a gf now and whatever his past, his current status eliminates his past follies if any as in Salman's case- if his woman can accept him, what more say do we have? (I know Rohan has a clean image pre-Kanchi as well). Rahul and Karan, both have clean married family images. Manu came with the committed image and whatever flirtations he may have indulged in, it was nipped in the bud after his brief exit and he never did project himself as in the market. Aur raha the intelligent but hyper Navin- the genuinely single guy who never got an opportunity to explore the single and ready to mingle facet on the show.
Now, Manveer, from his dressing to obsessions with his hair to his conversations, atleast BB's editing made him out to be single. Atleast Manveer's mumblings towards Nitibha created that impression and that was not BB's doing. Naturally, that is the perception we gathered and the journalists too I suppose.
We live in a social environment where married/divorced/separated men are usually considered less attractive (especially among the non-metro population) to the female population- the howler category, I mean. Naturally, all the acclaimed pappis and jhappis he sought and garnered during this period was atleast partially derivative of this image. Remember Manu during the mall task saying, 'Hello, mei bhi aadmi hoon'? He had to seek votes from young girls (tough that it was with his Piku status) unlike Manveer who carried the single image, which surely helped him garner votes finally as well.
Ofcourse the entire winning stands subject to suspicion if number of votes alone is the criteria. Still we can surely say that if Manveer came in forcefully as a divorcee or separated or run-away post-marriage, he would have found it tough to gain popularity with the masses as well and young girls. That is deliberate concealment for known benefits and if he can do so for the sake of a game and money, why blame journalists for their bread and butter?
And as earlier, I repeat, if there's a child involved in all of this, then this sentiment of mine is augmented several multiple times and it then goes beyond mere deception.
