Just because you (and most of IF) have built up an image of Armaan as a villain, doesn't mean everyone has done the same. I see him as someone with a lot of rage and a foul-mannered way of speaking, however that isn't something deserving of imprisonment.
I figure Armaan came into the house thinking he will play an angry, old, man and perhaps his calculations were that it would be entertaining and/or help him dominate the house. There are other equally vicious contestants in the show such as Kushal, Gauhar and Ajaz. However, Armaan maybe partly because of his bulk, managed to outshout them. Again, most of the gaalis being thrown back and forth were totally meaningless, the kind that are thrown about readily at countless minor squabbles in any major city in India.
Now along comes Sofia and she doesn't appear to be able to make up her mind one way or the other about who she is friends with, constantly stepping on people's toes and picking up arguments. Kushal and company see her as someone who can be deployed to create havoc in the other team and she willingly plays along, throwing the other team's bag out of the compound. Now, this is in itself is a very provocative act, anyone would be angered by this.
Then she has this habit of arguing on and on, sticking out her tongue, mocking others and so on. Armaan tried his usual intimidation act and she reacted by pushing him away. That is the first offence right there, Bigg Boss should have made the rules very clear as to whether such aggressive physical contact is allowed or not. Once you allow aggressive physical contact, who decides how much is crossing the line?
If your rules are on a gender basis, Sofia can endlessly push Armaan and he cannot retaliate at all. And as far as actual violence on Armaan's part goes, neither of us has seen the edited portion.
One thing I want to make clear here, my comments are solely bases on Armaan and Sofia's actions inside the house. He might be a right ruffian outside the house, that is nothing to do with how his actions within the house are to be judged. He also behaves utterly obnoxiously with Tanisha, but even that is not worthy of imprisonment, besides she has readily agreed to such treatment, perhaps she feels gaalis are a small price to pay for getting hooked up with Armaan, who knows?
So far, Ajaz has been the only person in the house who fought back against Armaan sensibly, that is the way to tackle him. They both flare up, give colorful gaalis, make empty threats, scowl for a while and all is forgotten after that.

The police saw the video between Arman and Sophia and concluded that violence did happen... But BB didn't think it was violence... That says a lot about how partial BB is towards a few...
