And it was January End. Winter.. Cold and No shelter for lacs of people.

we sent Blankets, food packets everyday. I remember I and my bro used to pack and mom used to cook. Dad was in seva committee and went there to hand over food/clothes.

Many institutions came after and Re-build villages/cities. City where Amir shoot 'Lagaan' was wholely devastated. He actually donated to re-build it.

I can go on n on. It was that bad.

California is known for earthquakes and tremors are pretty normal here.

but the main problem in India is Constructions. Conjusted area. No space between buildings. and then Old constructed buildings. Bilders never paid attention in early years. More of like making money thing for them. Safety comes last.

that is why smaller magnitude EQ in India can cause destruction.
