They are arnd 3/4 in magnitude..sometimes more

One entire district of Gujarat was wiped out. many villages/cities were completely collapsed. Not one building left. people were on street. many saw their houses collapsing in front of their eyes.
And it was January End. Winter.. Cold and No shelter for lacs of people.
we sent Blankets, food packets everyday. I remember I and my bro used to pack and mom used to cook. Dad was in seva committee and went there to hand over food/clothes.
Many institutions came after and Re-build villages/cities. City where Amir shoot 'Lagaan' was wholely devastated. He actually donated to re-build it.
I can go on n on. It was that bad.

IK Ayushi.
but the main problem in India is Constructions. Conjusted area. No space between buildings. and then Old constructed buildings. Builders never paid attention in early years. More of like making money thing for them. Safety comes last.
that is why smaller magnitude EQ in India can cause destruction.

oh yes. Its been more than 12 years.
but it took years for people to recover lose. 20,000 people died. 21 districts were affected and 600,000 people left homeless.
Everything has been reconstructed. And its actually nicely designed.😊
