I would prefer something being said behind his back rather than on his face. When remarks were passed by Kari, she vented out the feeling to her closed one. She neede an outlet but she was carwful, mindful not to hurt feeling of the persons directly. Things said and forgotten between closed ones.

But this chaude mein logic is barbaric. It shows intention to hurt a person's feeling directly.
