Here is my take why Sumbul went and complained it to Shalin. If it was only Gautam teasing her, she would never have gone to Shalin and complained him. Because it was Tina and, Sumbul does have feelings ( not necessarily romantic, but possessive ones in any form) for Shalin, it was the right opportunity to make Shalin go against Tina. Gautam was right about Shalin being angry on him not mainly because of Sumbul but because he was upset that Tina went against him and when Shalin realised that Gautam may say it openly, Shalin stopped there and started doing all the acting because somewhere he wanted to show that he was standing up for Sumbul and not because of Tina he was fighting with Gautam.
