You are very much right about real life. But when people watch the show they see them only as contestants. Pratik appeared as a douchebag on stage and almost everyone hated his attitude. The next two days people found him irritating. Then he slowed down and started showing his good side too. The guy fights with everyone and for silly reasons but he hardly abuses or uses bad words against anyone. Now people have started poking him to get footage because he is footage provider.

About Ridhima it was the exact opposite. People expected her to be mature but she turned out to be irritating and mad. Like Shamita described her so well, Ridhima actually wants Pratik to say something so that she can fight.

It's good to fight back but not insanely and that's what Ridhima is doing. Not only Pratik there were times Ridhima instigated and poked first. Even yesterday when Pratik started talking she interrupted him but when she wanted to talk she said she doesn't want to get interrupted. Or when it was between Neha and Divya about the kala dil task why did she mention that she wanted to throw Pratik in that kala pani ? If she didn't give OTT reaction and fought back like a sane person, people would have appreciated her. Like people did initially with Neha thinking she was mature but she too turned out to be quite manipulative.

Neha also pushed him, came at him in fights. Or is it only significant if they slap Pratik but if they push or shove its fine?🤔

There is nothing he has done that the women in this show haven't, they have equally bullied, ganged up on and been obnoxious. Saying this is harassment is a stretch and equating someone's inability to listen is a character trait not misogynistic.

He has been criticized plenty as being annoying, every contestant has fans and naysayers, this is how the show goes. Now agreed in past seasons there have actually been contestants with problematic thinking and actions who have been glorified, this aint it imo.

I agree. And I don't understand why gender roles are even brought in between as I have mentioned earlier? I know India is a patriarchal society but slowly some things are changing, change takes time but are we helping the mindset by bringing gender roles/stereotypes everywhere?. I have been watching this show since so many years and both Men and Women have behaved obnoxiously, and yes I have seen a lot of female contestants playing women card too. Does it help the situation or is it the sign of a strong woman? Nope I don't think so. I think we collectively need to change this mindset because both men and women can be equally wrong and shouldn't be expected to behave a certain way just because of their genders. BB is a subjective show therefore each and every contestant will have supporters as well as haters, difference of opinion would be there, but generalizing based on gender is wrong.

Absolutely, India is patriarchal cannot be even argued or denied but equating a contestant to rapists and assaulters is too much. I won't deny people give more leeway to male contestants but how is being irritating = sexist.

Agreed, disregarding or assigning emotions to all female contestants and removing the same emotions from men isn't right either.

India is still very much a patriarchial society. The content that is aired - if unmonitored for accountability, does influence naive folks as I'd mentioned. Pretending that gender bias does not exist in such shows (especially, when people largely choose to support an insolent male contestant, over an insolent female contestant, being quick to give terms to the insolent female as 'psycho', 'pagal') is a bit too much to expect.

Riddhima I am sure was bashed / criticized enough on here, about her language. The truth is, tapori language is not expected of a woman, so when Riddhima used it - it got highlighted real easily. Whereas Pratik has been tapori in his behavior right from Day 1. Example - Divya tried to calm him down saying, 'Mujhe pyaar se baat karni hai', he pounced at her calling her bewakoof and disregarded her attempt to be civil. He went on Divya's Boyfriend, why is that accepted? He insulted her BF in front of the cameras and brought matters from an old reality show, they did together the fore. Well that had nothing to do with BB either - the past was personal between Divya, Varun and Pratik. You must be aware that Divya lives with Varun and their families are close knit, so Varun is like a family member to her. He was too happy to attack that - it almost felt like he was waiting for a chance to pounce on her, to settle old scores and grudges.

Coming to Riddhima's behavior - Riddhima's behavior with Pratik (when she tried to match his tempo of argument) was her attempt at showing Pratik. what he does to others. She made her reasons for choosing to behave that way, very clear, when she had her first heated argument with Pratik on the Bartan washing scenario. Riddhima ofcourse went overboard at times and was bashed for it.

Riddhima's intent was aimed only at Pratik, to make him have a taste of his own medicine. Whereas, Pratik has been doing that to everyone since Day 1. No regard for anyone whatsoever. Let's say, even if someone requests him to keep silent for a minute or not barge into an argument, that he doesn't know much about - his only come back is 'Main bolunga, karlo aapko jo bhi karna hai'. That is tapori behavior right there. Civil people do not do that. If Riddhima's language was tapori, I cannot overlook the fact that Pratik's approach to every situation and every person has been tapori since Day 1. Body language, mannerisms, the lack of respect for others and insolence - Pura ka pura taporipan ka package hai.

Okay I respect your POV but let's agree to disagree here 😆 Clearly we both have different perspectives wrt this situation so arguing further won't help. And I appreciate that you are being sweet while putting forth your opinions because the arguments here can quickly heat up therefore exhausting and time consuming 😛

But male contestants in the past have been called names too, last year Eijaz was constantly called a psycho, and it had nothing to do with his gender but because people perceived his actions as such, same with Riddhima. So if some people choose to support Prateek over Riddhima in this fiasco, it's may be because of their behaviour/conduct in the concerned scenario and not because of their "genders".

So Riddhima's fault was that she appeared mature at first, but later lost her cool with the one person, who made everyone's life miserable - and so people were disappointed in her? But because Pratik from the start announced war on everyone through his body language / comments, so nothing he does surprise people anymore and so can be conveniently exempted and even appreciated? My issue here is not about Riddhima being bashed - it is about Riddhima being solely bashed when an argument happens with Pratik. Divya being solely bashed when a tiff happens with Pratik. But Pratik neither being held accountable, nor being criticized for his behavior. He's afterall a 'sher' that rules Bigg Boss.

That's how you want to interpret my comment but that's not what I said. 😆

All I said was people judge according to what they show us. Had they both stayed the same as the first day, people would have continued to love Ridhima and hated Pratik. With passing days both showed different personalities and that's why people changed their mind.

Pratik is no more that "I am God", "Mein sabka band bajaoonga". Often his fight looks so silly that people just enjoy his silliness. 😆 Whereas Ridhima gives OTT reaction and that's why people find it irritating.

If you see, Pratik often fights verbally that too without using abusive language and what does Ridhima do ? She gets so triggered that she even hits him. That too when sometimes she herself wants to fight with him. People won't see who is the boy and who is the girl, they only see who is behaving the weirdest way. Currently it's definitely Ridhima.

That's all I have to say. I don't even want to make it girl vs boy. The contestants already use that card in every season.

Fair enough. That's your perspective. Agreeing to disagreeing here.
