Asim first started to get noticed after his friendship with Sidharth, who was one of the most popular faces inside the house. Their bromance was what diverted the audience's attention towards the duo, however, Asim still did not get recognised in the game as a strong individual. Soon after, people inside as well as outside the house termed him as Sidharth's 'chela' or disciple and questioned his ability to play the game on his own.
Even though he did not pay heed to these taunts initially, things changed for Asim when Vishal Aditya Singh entered the house as a wild card entrant. With Sidharth preferring Vishal over Asim for winning in the tasks, and with Shehnaaz Gill's increasing proximity with the Dil Se Dil Tak actor, Asim realised it was time to move ahead in the game alone and stand for himself.
Soon after, during one of the tasks, Asim stood firm on his decision against Sidharth and this resulted in a major showdown between the friends, turning them into sworn enemies overnight. Over the next few days, while everyone thought Asim will go back to Sidharth, he proved them wrong and stood his ground. It also led to a series of fights between him and Sidharth which even turned violent from time to time. The entire house at one point got divided into Team Sidharth and Team Asim.
Facing the wrath of fans outside for standing against Sidharth, Asim continued his journey towards the one important goal -- the trophy. His patience, strength, and determination were rewarded and he was finally recognised as a gamechanger when during a live-voting session, he secured the maximum points and became the first-ever member in the history of Bigg Boss to become a member of the coveted Elite Club. By this time, Asim had managed to earn a massive fan-following outside and became one of the most trending contestants of Bigg Boss, shattering several records in the process.
On the sidelines, Asim and Himanshi Khurana's friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship with him openly expressing his love for her. Knowingly or unknowingly, the love angle also helped Asim make his fanbase stronger with people calling him real and not shying away from opening his heart out on a public platform.
While in the first half of the show, the entire game revolved around Sidharth and his strategies and behaviour, Asim silently and steadily carved a niche for himself and is now one of the top contenders with a huge fan army. Viewers lost their calm when even star wrestler John Cena shared his picture on social media without any context. Since its inception, Bigg Boss has proved that twists and turns are a part of the show, and it won't be surprising to see Asim lifting the trophy on February 15, what with the unpredictable nature of the controversial reality show.
