The show is biased for Shukla. We all know this. Shukla fans know this. Its not a discussion point anymore. He has single handedly committed more violence than all contestants from all seasons combined ever, and is still not only in the show but heavily favored. Not only are the favors evident in the game itself, but also in his treatment by Salman. Asim is younger, less successful, and perhaps not the creatives favorite or something, so Salman directly talks down to him and calls him names. He never does this with Shukla. Even when Shukla f**ks up beyond discussion, Salman's words are always like "apko shobha nahee deta hai" or "itna logical hotehuye bhi ap calm nahi reh paye."
Okay, now that is out of the way. Let's talk about Asim.
Asim has been heavily bullied in the show from day one because of many reasons: Paras was looking for a scapegoat to get some 'alpha' type footage, he looked different, he sounded different, he didn't know anyone from before, he wasn't as famous as the others, he hadn't done reality TV before etc. Over time, he learned, improved, and adapted, and as grown to become one of the top contenders on the show now.
My question is - why shouldn't he be confident about it? Why should he act secondary and stay in the background?
- If Paras is telling him he doesn't know who he is, WHY SHOULDN'T he scream back " No, you don't know who I am!" (A thread on this forum today)
- If Asim says something causing Sana and Shukla's disagreement, why is that necessarily a proof of him being a bad person? We have seen every single person (and every single combination of people) do this countless times in all the seasons, and many times they are appreciated for being 'gamers.' (Another thread on this forum today)
- If Asim says one of the most common and frankly overused lines said by people in love related to those opposing them "I don't owe them anything!" SO F**KING WHAT? Its a god-damn expression we have all heard a million times. (Also a thread on the forum today)
- If Asim happens to sit and listen and agree with a conversation between himself, Himanshi, and Vishal (about the Arhaan thing), WHY THE F**K is he a bad human being if he doesn't run to Rashmi right away and tell her everything? Why can't he be his own person? How many times have we seen Shukla/Paras openly bitch about Asim in such a derogatory manner. Just because Salman or the show doesn't show it back in a TV set, so its fine to act that way? And because Salman highlights Asim's mistakes, so the intensity of his mistakes are amplified? (Many threads this week suggesting Asim isn't invested in RaSim as much as he should be)
There are two reasons why Asim is so heavily scrutinized:
1. Shukla fans desperately scraping for material to use against him because they know their hero is beyond redemption.
2. We have become brainwashed by the housemates/show's bullying of Asim.
My message is to those of us who belong to number 2. PLEASE come to terms with the fact that Asim is just as much of a contestant as Shukla, Paras, Mahira, Arti, and Sana are. He has lasted over 135 days in an intensely difficult circumstance where he has been not just bullied left and right, but also physically assaulted multiple times and STILL every time, told to his face why his assault was his own fault. Please lets think of ourselves. The show has made a habit of scrutinizing Asim's mistakes, and I think somewhere we, too, have formed this habit. Always look at degrees. He is a trophy contender at this point. If you think Shukla, Sana, Paras are allowed the confidence and self-belief that they are winner materials, but if Asim does it then it is arrogance, then frankly, maybe you have a bullying problem as well!
