Bharat Ka Veer Putra - Maharana Pratap and Ekta Kapoor's forthcoming Jodha Akbar have attracted the fury of Shree Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS) for not 'displaying Rajputs in an authentic way'.

They claim that no book or historical document establishes that Akbar was married to Jodha and insisted that they will not let the showmakers tamper with history.

Something similar has happened with show Maharana Pratap. The serial shows the protagonist wearing Marathi headgear and Afghani pants

Also, the serial's been set in Mewar, where there are no sand dunes, and in some scenes, they show the actor fighting in the backdrop of sand dunes.

In the same show, Maharani Bhatiyani, played by Aashka Goradia, is shown to be Maharaja Uday Singh's wife, however, if historians are to be believed she was not his wife but his mistress. 😲

How true is this? Particularly the one highlighted in red?

There is one line from India Today cover story on rise of historicals and mythos too. Although they have praised Maharana Pratap and affirmed its popularity, they mentioned about its controversy here

The serial got embroiled in controversy when sections of the Rajput community dubbed it misleading and found it to be politically motivated historical revisionism with little relevance.

Is this true? I didn't come across such stuff. What historical revisionism was done that they are talking about?

There's another one about protests against the content and characterisation of Pratap - http://www.udaipurtimes.com/rajput-community-objects-to-tv-serial-on-maharana-pratap/

Actually, there are no frequent details abt Hindu queens except few who themselves ruled d kingdom or fought against rivals.
Yes, I have heard abt objection taken on the costumes used in MP but this Bhatiyani controversy is for the first time I'm reading it.

I don't know or haven't read anywhere abt Bhatiyani except this show. She was the dearest and evil queen of Uday Singh who tried to abandon MP from his rights, so yes there will be a controversy against her.

Even Bajirao Peshva accepted Mastani as his wife (she was half-muslim) and he gave Mastani's son a territory to rule but after his death and even during his life time Maratha's never accepted Mastani as his wife (though their King loved her) Mastani always has been mentioned as his mistress only. And after Bajirao's death Maratha's tried to exile Mastani and her son from their empire. Of course Mastani wasn't cruel and evil like the Bhatyani we all see in the show.

So, the point is that there could be a possibility that bcoz this Bhatiyani was bad and plotted against MP , historians potrayed her as mistress of Uday Singh...

I'M NOT SURE BUT JUST THOUGHT ABOUT THIS POSSIBILITY.

A book called Flowers of Hindu Chivalry also mentions about Udai Singh falling into excessive influence of a concubine - http://archive.org/stream/flowersofhinduch035034mbp/flowersofhinduch035034mbp_djvu.txt

Is DB that concubine? (Concubine is either a woman who co-habits with a man or is a "lesser wife")

What 😲 Is it true ?? Mistress ho ke itni himmat 😔
I like the sets, backdrop, costumes and even the tiger. It looks real and menacing. I am from South so cannot say much about Rajasthani costumes but whatever they are wearing look regal and afterall its a show so they can take some liberties.

Honestly I dnt hav any prob wid d costumes backdrop etc etc but Bhattiyani? a mistress? thats joke ov the year🤣 C a mistress can NEVER have so much influence over a king, she was his dharam patni for sure i have read many articles regarding it all over the internet n all ov them say that she was his fav queen n besides no1 in their right mind wud nominate a mistress' son (jagmall) as future king i mean its just ridiculous badey ho kr unka raja kya kehlaata? illegitimate child? that wud hv bin too embarassing for not only jagmaal but US's mountain sized ego toošŸ˜†

I just shared the article.

Bhaatiyani's background also seems shady. I've been searching on Bhati Rajputs but did not come across on stuff about any woman from that clan being US' wife.

Of course there are accounts about his most favourite, youngest and most beautiful queen - under whose influence he was.

No clear idea on this show and the character but just for the record, it is not like mistress can't be a queen or have so much influence. The most powerful empress in history of China was originally a mere concubine of the emperor only. But she exerted crazy influence on him, so much so that she gained control over not only him but the entire empire, polity and economy.
So, hone ko toh kuch bhi ho sakta hai. šŸ˜†
