Rucha Gujarathi
Model-TV actress

"I want to do a positive role to inspire people through my (good) morals"

Vikram> Hey Rucha what are the three most essential traits that a person should have to be a model?
Rucha Gujarathi > Confidence, good looks, and you have to be smart enough (to get about) in this industry.

Arushi_cool > Are you going to do any other serial or do you want to step into Bollywood for a change?
Rucha Gujarathi > I would really love to do films. But I am picky and choosy about roles. I want to take on something different from "Kalli"'s (in the serial Kkusum ) role .

Sneha > Did you always want to be an actor or had you planned to become something else?
Rucha Gujarathi > I always planned to be an actor. It was my dream since child hood. I had also worked as a child artiste in films and TV serials. So now it is like a dream come true.

Sklfcf > Hi, which place do you actually belong to? Can you tell us about your family?
Rucha Gujarathi > My dad is a doctor. Mom is a housewife and I have two younger sisters who are twins. One is studying B.Pharm and the other one is also into medicine. I am from Mumbai.

Rima > Hi, don't you crave to play a positive role?
Rucha Gujarathi > Yes I do. And that's why I am very choosy about roles. So, the next serial I take up will see to it that it's a positive role so that I can inspire people through my morals.

Sneha > Which more serials you have signed? And, are you not thinking of acting in any other serial besides Kkusum ?
Rucha Gujarathi > I am getting offers but they (roles) are all mostly with negative shades. So I am picky. I have a face, which can do well in a positive role. I haven't signed any other serial yet.

Hamza > What about films? Would you take up film offers? Wouldn't it affect your star of small screen image, if you give up the small screen? You might lose your importance, as Bollywood is full of big fish?
Rucha Gujarathi > I guess that's not going to happen. Going to a big screen will be a step ahead in life. It's a promotion. I have a confidence that I will make a mark in Bollywood. People do appreciate my work.

Dinkrit > What are your likes and dislikes Rucha?
Rucha Gujarathi > I love listening to music, I love dancing and whenever I am in a sad mood, if I get to dance, I forget my worries. Apart from that, I love swimming. And if I find time, I would love to do horse riding. Actually there are hardly any dislikes that I can think of now. But, speaking about myself, I cans ay that I don't like my anger.

Rohit > Are you inspired by any negative characters? If yes, then who are they?
Rucha Gujarathi > I love Kajol in the film Gupt . In serials, I like Kamolika in Kasauti Zindagi Kay . I like Amrish Puri also, especially his acting in Mr. India. He was one of the greatest actors

Sam > Are you same as "Kalli" (nature wise) in real life?
Rucha Gujarathi > Not at all! If you come to my set (shooting), people will tell you that I am the most simple and sweet person. I have a little bit of an attitude, but that's about it.

Yusuf > What has been the response from the viewing public when they encounter you in real life? Do they hate or adore you?
Rucha Gujarathi > There are many people who when they see me in real life say, "Oh You are so sweet. We love the way you dress, etc." But they also complaint, "Why are you after Kumud's (in Kkusum ) life?" And I can only say that I am only playing a character in the serial who is after Kumud's life. I am not the same person (Laughs)!

Heena > Seeing the popularity of negative characters like 'Ansh' of KSKBT and 'Sasha' of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii , do you think people have started liking negative characters?
Rucha Gujarathi > I guess that could be true, as negative characters put more spice into the serial or drama and people do enjoy watching some high drama. There is some kind of thrill when they enter the serial. They wonder what that character is going to do next. Also, through such portrayals one learns a lesson too. And that is one should not be like them.

Shreya > How did you bag "Kalli's" role? Did you take it up instantly or hesitated initially?
Rucha Gujarathi > Basically I was doing TV commercials. And did not want to get into serials. I always wanted to get into films. Once I went for an audition for the role of Yukta in Kahin Kisi Roz . And then Ektaa liked me for "Kalli." I saw it as a very good opportunity to portray a very good role. And as good experience counts, I accepted it.

Shadab > How do your folks at home react to your becoming an actress?
Rucha Gujarathi > They are too proud of me. Now-a-days, they are known as Kalli's dad and mom at any formal function they go to attend. My family has always supported me. I did my paramedical course after the 12th science and worked with my dad for six months as a pathologist. So that desire of my dad too I fulfilled. Initially, my dad wanted me to take part in the Miss India contest. But I am too short to qualify. I am 5 ft 3.5 inches. But I am successful now, which my dad wanted me to be.

Eesha > If not an actress, what would you have been?
Rucha Gujarathi > A pathologist.

Gayatri > Generally, what has been the experience of playing "Kalli"?
Rucha Gujarathi > It's a fun character with different shades. Like grey, white, black. So there are so many variations.

Priyanka > You were a child artist also. Then why did you disappear from the scene for a while?
Rucha Gujarathi > I took a break for my studies. Completing my education was important. So, at the right moment of my life, I took a break.

Ravi > When is your birthday?
Rucha Gujarathi > 24th of Jan.

Nimmi > Who is your favourite costar in Kkusum ?
Rucha Gujarathi > 'Garv' played by Chetan Hansraj.

Unnati > What do you do in your free time?
Rucha Gujarathi > I listen to music, talk on the phone and sometimes I read books like Jeffrey Archer.
