Idk how this is going the gone girl way cuz in GG amy only selfish! Amy was never selfless everything she did was for self-interest. Maya phase 1 was selfish and selfless both! Maya saved others risking her own life several times! This is just getting so annoying!
But I can't call Maya characterless as some people are! How much crazier can someone be in love that they are willing to hurt themselves just for the sake of having their love! Maya would be deemed characterless had she been enjoying that intimacy with another man! She felt nothing but pain!

For some reason I can't hate Maya cuz everytime I see her doing something bad, I remember all the good things she has done! Poor Arjun doesn't even know what he got himself into! Now Arjun will lose that "chance" that Maya has given him... he and his whole family will soon have to face Maya's wrath.
The games have just started and it has shaken us! We're in for a lot more...
Btw it's kind of scientifically impossible to just have ayaans DNA found in the lab test... wouldn't they have found samay's dna also? 😆
I agree with part of your post but not all. I think drawing comparisons between Saanjh and Maya is unfair, those two are nothing like the other. I wouldn't call Maya selfless in this particular situation, she went through all that pain just to get her Arjun back, that wasn't for the sake of love, it was for her own sake, a selfish purpose that is.
Bold - that is exactly it. Maya isn't in love, she'd crazy in love - possessive, obsessive and manipulative at times. Arjun and Maya's relationship is toxic and unhealthy, at least at the moment.
I don't hate Maya, not even close, I love her character and it seems like instead of removing layers from her character, the makers are adding more day after day but I'm not mad at it. I like Maya, but I am not going to a far-fetched extent just to justify her actions which are, at times, incorrect.
About the DNA observation, that's a good point, perhaps cleaning with alcohol before rubbing Ayaan's DNA could've helped but I don't think it's possible since there were bites and claw-like marks. Another slip from the makers *shrugs*
