Keeping aside the show, I don't think the fish really died. Maybe it was just shown in the show.
Coming to Maya, she is cruel. She is brutal, you see. Accept it or not. You cannot justify this act by any past. No wrong can be justified by your past, or whatsoever. You can only sympathize for her past.
She is Beyhadh. These acts of her make me hate her. And that is exactly what the show is portraying too. But, that is the show. Yes, we hate her, but we find her interesting. I'll give an example. All of his hate Raavan, but what is Ramayan without Raavan? The only thing is I don't find any Ram here. Rather these characters have both Ram and Raavan in them, but Maya has too much of those negative qualities. I hate Bhallaldev in Bahubali, but he is more interesting than Bahubali. Take Viraj in DDSB(he was more obsessive though), but he was the more important and interesting character than others, but did people love him? Support him? Of Course NOT!!! You see where he ended up. If I am right, he also suffered from domestic abuse. I have watched only some episodes, so not sure.
Negative traits are always more dominant than the positive ones, they appeal more to the eyes. Just like Maya appeals to the eye. But when deep down, she is so restless. A beautiful lie is worse than a painful truth.
Why I enjoy Maya when I say she is wrong? She is a fictional character. Since she is a fictional character, you always have the analytical mind. You do want to analyze how her mind works. Psychology is really an interesting subject, and you would like to decipher such minds. The great epics are built on such characters. You always like to understand these characters, take some lessons, in material sense, psychological sense and spiritual sense.
Why do I crib when Maya is not Beyhadh? Because that is so out of her character! I would love it if changes, but it should be built slowly in a way that the audience can connect to her. We should be able to FEEL the change. I want to see how she struggles when she is on the journey of learning to love herself. What she changed during the aftermath of wedding, might be genuine. But she returned back to her old ways. I'm not speaking of what Triggered her.
When you want to change, a lot of troubles will come at your way. Only if you can face those problems and come up will you become a hero, else you are a quitter. But during this struggle she obviously needs some support. Wasn't Arjun there? He stood up against his mother every time. Had if she had approached him, he would have been with her. Even Saanjh and Ayan were with her.
She IS extreme. What will happen to this Extremeness? Will it win or die. I'm meaning the extremeness of Maya, not Maya.
I watch the show FOR Maya and it is natural of me to find her wrong. This is how most great epics are written. Because epics happen to extreme people, extremely bad or extremely good. You need to be passionate about anything to succeed in it, but there is a thin line between passion and obsession. That will decide if you will prosper or get destroyed...It was established that Maya was this way, and probably in days to come you see an even worse side of her. More disturbing things...
