Trust me when i say this, it really hurts to fall in an unrequited love with your best friend and one fine day that best friend gets close to another girl. I have gone through that. I have fought with my best friend for changing and not giving me importance anymore.

In Saanjh's case, she had seen the obsessive and dangerous streak of Maya. So when Arjun also says that he is not in love with Maya, its normal for saanjh to try to protect him and her feelings.
