I feel complexity of MJS turning out as inconsistency sometimes bcoz they didn't give away her past details at one go unlike MM. I think it's the narrative flaw than the character's or may be they planned this way because it's a thriller and can't reveal the entire FB at once.
The initial articles kind of hinted MJS being involved with a married older guy and being betrayed and abused by her lover. There was no reason to keep it hidden. Fence sitting people who started watching the show lost connect right from the start. Why is she so rutheless? Why does she want to kill or harm innocents? If this were a bingewatch show on web, then this mystery would have made sense. The biggest reason people connected with Baazigar was that the entire struggle filled life of SrK was shown right at start. Also that it was a movie.
They first showed MJS as badass and ruthless woman who came back for only revenge. Later they showed her planning, plotting against Rishi and Rudra . When she killed Rishi she felt it's wrong on her part but there was no option to her. We didn't get why all of a sudden she was displaying some humane emotions. Then it was revealed she lost her child. But many couldn't connect to it because of fetus Vs adult man equation or innocent being killed for revenge. But she isn't here to justify righteous act so I didn't judge that act . I'm not supporting it even.
Rishi killing lost her whatever empathy she had from the audience.
Then she falling in love with Rudra and entering Roy mansion was unexpected even for her. The PTSD was beautifully portrayed by Jen but again ppl wanted only badass Maya and didn't like her going meek In front of MJ but it's easier said than done for a girl who faced trauma like Manvi. Then the actual FB was revealed but it went like a flash that few couldn't connect with her pain. I neither blame writers nor Viewers here. It's all about perception.
PTSD part is understandable. That under the table scared little girl moment was beautiful but the outright abuse by MJ and Rudras obliviousness was jarring and no fault of viewers if they were cribbing.
And now they are showing another part of her FB and another layer of MJS.
Finally, MM was established as straight away sanki due to her childhood trauma and madly obsessed in love with Arjun. So all her acts were seen from that angle. Also MM sanki acts were first of it's kind and Jen nailed those and her styling was the silver lining🔥😍
But MJS is more complex and layered and a result of the most traumatic past which is getting revealed like series of events that too in a non linear way which might make her character is inconsistent.
I like to watch the journey of a girl who was forced to become a vengeful and sanki woman than the established sankipan angle.
Yh from your pov you may be right. Just like I am right in my pov.
For me MJS is likeable and better character than MM except for her styling😆
MM over MJS always. The charisma she had is unbeatable.
Sorry for the rant😛
