... with the episode and Aliya... After an exciting precap, I thought it would be Aliya yelling at her sister, and then Zain stepping in to defend her, with Rizvaan supporting. And as a unit how they deal with this, breaking this unpalatable truth to the parents. there was so much scope for sensitivity, maturity in the track, however...I know a lot of people have already compared Aayat's position to Fahad, both criticizing and defending Aliya, but here's what i feel.
While i agree with Aliya being truthful and strong,i dont see how someone who was so forbearing in Fahad's case, dealing with a tricky situation maturely could be so insensitive, harsh in Aayat's case. In fact even more so, given that a girl's reputation was at stake. If Fahad's behaviour she dealt with with discretion, encouraging him to say the truth to HIS family, how come she didnt do this for Aayat. Aayat was answerable only to Aliya, to her parents, not to the likes of randoms like Suraiyya & Gauhar.
The Aaliya they had shown till now, would have expected her to get to the bottom of things and confront Aayat and get her to own up to the truth as an older sister. Not this full on public confrontation & tamasha, esp. in so delicate a situation, without giving her sister the benefit of doubt, esp. when she knew from Zain's conversation about the girl being forced into it. Does she genuinely not trust her beloved sister as much as she'd trust 'a new brother'? Imagine Zain after coming to know of Fahad's indiscretion had made a tamasha in front of the extended family & neighbours, asking his brother to justify to 'phoophs' why he bet, in an almost 'I tell to miss' manner!
I felt at the end, more than Aaliya or even Zain (coz unlike what was shown in the precap, he didn't manage to stop her or clarify), it was Aayat who stood tall, esp. with her dialogue of being exploited in a world where all she wanted to do was to be the 'son to her dad and take care of all her parents' troubles'
Pity a great track with an opportunity to grow Aaliya & Zain's character was wasted. This track, resolved over a period of a week or so by Aaliya & Zain as a unit would have brought in the greater ratings, the show actually deserves.
Not criticizing anyone, POV of a person who genuinely loves this show, as one of the few worth watching today.
EDIT: Some people have raised a point saying that unlike Fahad's case, the Abdullahs over here deserved to be part of the confrontation since coz of Aayat Zain's life was in danger. Just to wanted to mention that by that logic even the Haidars should be concerned about Fahad's wrongdoings, coz. the BIL of your daughter getting named in a high scam betting scandal can be quite ruinous to a family and its reputation, esp. since your samdhi's samdhi is in jail. Also how come no one is saying anything to Fahad's FIL who led his son-in-law on the path of ruin... he is actually much more dangerous to the family's health, wealth and reputation.
Also if Aayat's escapade jeopardizing Zain's life makes it ok for Aliya to include the Abdullahs in the Aayat confrontation, then toh Suraiyya is also justified in asking Aaliya to leave, coz of her family, Zain has constantly been in danger. Then we should not root for Aaliya but hoot for Surraiya
