There was never 'hate'

We all use the word hate everyday without really meaning it. I do too. But when it comes to describing characters and plot, I feel there should be some more thought instead of exaggeration and hyperbole.

I saw some BTS or interview with Preetika where she described the wedding drama and how Zain comes back to get his phone. She kept saying how Zain and Aliya hate each other right now.

No, they don't. They never did from the start, nor do they now. The characters may have used the word "hate" as we all do in our real lives. But in terms of the narrative, they never hated each other, and especially not at the time Zain came back to get his phone.

Aliya lashed out at him saying she hated him, yes. And even if you take that into account, it still doesn't mean that "they hate each other" as Preetika had said. It was only on Aliya's part (and that too, it was her lashing out).

Zain still doesn't hate her. He feels betrayed, angry, helpless, resentment, etc. But hate? Hate is strong, hate consumes you, it festers in your heart. So far, there is still no hate from Zain. Though it is very much possible that all those feelings and emotions he has now may soon mold and become hate. But as of right now, there is no hate on either side. And there never has been.

I am glad this is not a typical hate marriage. Or a hate relationship. I love that Zain is not some jackass (so far). Don't diminish the nuance of the story and characterizations by describing the Zain-Aliya relationship as "hate."

I agree with u... hate's a strong word... they dislike one another is a better term to use and at the moment, I feel aliya entered the marriage with a guilty feeling towards zain, she knows she's wronged him so her feelings towards him for sometime will be of guilt rather than hate
as for zain, as u said he's angry and feels betrayed I feel he doesn't hate aaliya, they jus don't seem to get along and irritate one another, esp zain irritates aaliya to the core, and zain just loves getting back at her...its that childhood conflict which jus grew a bit deeper when zain came 2 Bhopal and lied abt being zeeshan 2 aaliya- its far from hate.

Agreed, Aaliya may have had reason to also resent and dislike Zain. But now her guilt seems to have replaced it. So unless the resentment comes back, it will be Zain who harbors resentment, betrayal and anger, with Aliya feeling guilty.

I do wish at some point Aliya points out to Zain that neither of them were willing to disappoint their fathers. He too had the option to refuse and to back out, but he couldn't do that to his father. Just as she couldn't do it to her father.

(On another note, i do feel that her mother and father used a bit of emotional manipulation on her. Somewhat knowingly, too.)

Yeah that occurred to me too, that they use "hate" because the Indian audience laps up these things. But then again, what about the ones that may not? Besides the audience who are watching can see that they don't hate each other. And that's what keeps bringing the audience. The non-hate story of Beintehaa keeps growing in viewers..😆 so clearly the audience likes watching stories where male leads aren't jackasses and where the story isn't one of hate.

It really irked me a bit when she kept saying again and again that "Zain and Aliya hate each other."

That's a good point, they haven't hated each other from childhood they are just irritated with each other and love to pranks. As of now Aliya doesn't hate Zain at all, she may be angry at him and then guilt also. And Zain too I don't think he will ever truly hate her, he will very angry, hurt etc. but both of them will never reach that extremes level of hate

I always say hate is a strong word and there's not many situations where it can be used coz it doesn't really fit in. People just use the term 'Hate' coz it gives more of a 'feel'. Does it really? That would depend on the person. I don't think the characters hate each other it's a phase which makes them wanna do so but it won't happen. Any who I've liked a show after ages and I have really high expectations. Hope it goes a long way!

I've been thinking the same thing since the beginning.

They seem a little obsessed with each other and just love playing pranks on one another. That to me shows that they have a close relationship, as you only play pranks on those you are close to, or those you outright hate, which I don't think is the case here.
