"Mujhe apne aap ko samjhana hoga ke humaari parchhai bhale hi humaare saath chalti hai, hum usey na chhoo sakte hai, na hi paa sakte hai"
In today's episode Aniruddh Roy Chaudhary finally said his mann ki baat, and it was best summarized in the line quoted above. That line completely encapsulated every emotion in Ani's mind, his love, his loneliness, his helplessness, and most importantly his inner conflict.
Pravisht in many recent interviews has mentioned that Aniruddh has two personalities in him, one is the Aniruddh Roy Chaudhary who we have all loved and trolled in equal measure pre-leap, a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, who was a Gandhi Bhakt, who cried in public, threw tantrums like a child, would scream when pricked with a thorn and who was more likely to be beaten up when faced with the likes of CC. The other is Tulsipur's Barrister Babu, he is Tulsipur's protector and the general in the dushmani with Krishnanagar. Barrister Babu never smiles, never cries, is apparently undefeated in court, wins swordfights for years on end, carries guns, and advocates giving an eye for an eye. While except for the violence, most of ARC and BB's core ethics are the same, the behaviour is different enough to be alarming. So what caused this change, what made Ani want to kill the Nazuk Kali in him to completely become Don Babu?
Aniruddh and his feelings for Bondita upto Episode 309
Ani's feelings for Bondita when she went to London, as that forms the basis for all his behaviour thereafter. At this point Ani is still Nazuk Kali, and his Nazuk Kali is in love, without getting into platonic and romantic, we can be sure of two things:
- Ani wants the best for Bon, wherever she is and whatever she does, he wants her to have a happy and free life.
- For Ani, no one can take her place in his life, he would wait for her. If she chose him as a life partner, he would be euphoric. If not, he would still be there for her in whichever way she wants him.
This love of Ani for Bon is that of Krishna. Shri Krishna would take any required role for their devotee, and Ani will do the same for Bon.
The start of the Dushmani and the first blow
When escaping her wedding, in the train, Ani was already aware of the high price they paid for taking Bon to London. Bon's comment about wanting her sapne and her apne was what made Ani decide to go to TM and ask for forgiveness. He wanted Bon to have all her apne with her when she returned. However, that went terribly wrong, Ani and the RCs were poisoned, and Ani was framed for the explosion that killed Shoumik and Rimjhim, lead to Tupur's disfigurement and the Das Haveli burning down. While it was the first blow, Ani still made an attempt to put things right. He returned to TM, and begged for peace, however, the results were disastrous. Kaka was arrested, Ani was beaten up, and Binoy was damaged beyond repair. At this point Ani gave up on asking for peace, since he knew that TM and CC won't grant it. In the episode where he swears to hatred in return for hatred, was the first blow against Nazuk Kali. In addition, the enemity between the families had already spread over the villages, forcing Ani to take up the role of protector for not only his family, but the entire village.
What made Don Babu?
However, at this point, Don Babu was still not formed. When Ani wrote his second and third letters to Bon, he was still Nazuk Kali with a gun. On the inside, he was frightened about what all this dushmani is forcing him to do, he was reeling from all the violence and the bloodshed, and he was extremely worried for how his relationship with Bon would be affected. And most importantly, he was lonely, he was losing touch with himself and his sanity. And for probably the second or third time since he has known Bon, he pleaded for himself and not for her. He pleaded that he needed her.
I would also note that when Ani mentioned everyone around him here, he mentioned Shashwati but not the rest of the kids, so I am assuming he hadn't adopted them yet.
But here, I am delving into speculation, but I suspect that Ani's decision that Nazuk Kali had to die for the betterment of everyone else came around this time only. I feel that a situation similar to the one in today's episode happened, where CC's goons took advantage of Ani's vulnerability to attack which led to a severe loss of life. It would be then that Ani decided that peace-loving Nazuk Kali had to die. But it is impossible to kill your own fitrat, so the next best thing was decided on. If Nazuk Kali cannot die, he has to be locked up. So Ani locked up every memory of Nazuk Kali, the piano, the coffee, his smiles, his tears and Bondita. Bondita was the only person who could free Nazuk Kali, so every memory of Bondita was locked up. Ani wasn't just running away from Bondita, he was running away from Nazuk Kali. And Nazuk Kali stayed locked and dormant in the locked room and his heart, for 8 long years.
In today's episode, Tupur mentions how Bondita owes the Das family, and Tupur in particular, a debt. Similarly, Ani's face when he learns of his team-mate's death in the attack shows clearly that Ani owes his own life to every resident of Tulsipur whose life was destroyed due to the dushmani, including his own family. So when Nazuk Kali was locked up, Barrister Babu - the living corpse that Ani became, had only one aim in life, to protect his family and his village
