The team of Ardhangini had a tough time in Kolkata, recently. One could call it sheer carelessness that the makers apparently 'forgot' to take permission from a pandal owner where a Durga Puja sequence had to be shot. It was an embarrassing situation indeed, but actor Sharad Malhotra aka Sagar of Dulhann, somehow saved it. The Kolkata boy pulled some strings so that the scene could be shot.

Zee's new show Ardhangini is based on Bengali tradition and culture. To add that dash of authenticity, the team travelled to Kolkata thinking that it would be better for them to shoot at an actual pandals. However, in their enthusiasm, the producers did not deem it too necessary to seek prior permission from the pandal owner!

Says a unit member, "We thought it would be especially convenient to shoot in pandals now that Durga Puja is over. However, the organisers did not relent. We were in a fix. The entire cast and crew was there. A lot of money was at stake too. Finally, Sharad Malhotra, who is Sudeepa Singh's friend from her Zee Cinetsars Ki Khoj days, came to our rescue."

Sharad requested the pandal organisers to allow the team to shoot. Says Sudeepa, "Yes, Sharad helped us in Kolkata. We were in deep trouble when we were refused to shoot at a pandal in Kolkata. Sharad requested them and we were allowed to shoot. Truly, he was our saviour."

Besides a pandal, Team Ardhangini also shot at the Howrah Bridge, Victoria Memorial and Kolkata's famous trams.
