Brake down?
We've heard Sharad Malhotra, the lead man of Dulhann… has been given the axe due to his starry tantrums. He, however, says he's taking a voluntary break
Sharad Malhotra who came into the limelight as Sagar in Zee TV's Banoo Main Teri Dulhann will no longer be a part of the show. Apparently he had begun to acquire starry airs.
According to a source in the production house, "It's surprising how Sharad has changed in the past one year. Sharad used to be so calm as a newcomer. But, as Dulhann… started getting popular with the audiences, he also started showing his true colours. His transformation is too drastic. He is under the impression that now that he has become a star everyone must bear with him. In fact, he has been demanding huge sums of money too."
Our source adds, "When the channel could not tolerate his growing tantrums, they decided to chuck him. The creative team is planning to scrap his character by killing Sagar in the show. Obviously, it will be a shock for the viewers as the show is really doing well."
When contacted, Sharad Malhotra seemed unperturbed. He said, "I am taking a few months' break from the show as the pressure is too much. Everything was sorted out between me and the production house and there is no problem at all," he said.
When asked about starry tantrums, he said, "I just want to know who is spreading this rumours. I have always been on time on the sets and my conduct on the sets has always been good. Moreover, I don't take more than two-three takes for my scenes, so there is no question of me throwing tantrums."
He clarified his stand on the price hike too. "I live here alone, so I need to earn well for myself. Surviving in an expensive city like Mumbai is not easy. I asked for decent rate as per the market. And, when someone is doing well, why not ask for a hike?" he added.
Dulhann has been the top rated show for Zee TV. So, being out of this show at the peak of popularity is really surprising. "I have not been keeping well for quite sometime, and I want to take rest for a couple of moths. It's okay," he said.
Saagar to die in Dulhann
Next week, in Banno Main Teri Dulhann, there will be a major twist as the main lead Saagar (Sharad Malhotra) will die.
Executive Producer Shyam Bhattacharya tells us, "Saagar will meet with an accident which will lead to his death. In the earlier episodes, Babaji (Astrologer) had predicted that Saagar would be having a tough time for three days. Vidya manages to save him for two days but he eventually dies. This will leave Vidya completely shattered."
The current track of the serial is such that Vidya and buaji are trying to save Saagar from Sindoora, who wants to kill her brother (Saagar).
So Dulhann will lose her dulha next week.
Sharad Might Come Back
Though there have been reports about Sharad Malhotra aka Sagar been axed from Zee's Banoo Main Teri Dulhaan, but the actor has rubbished such tales. In fact, Sharad has hinted that he may actually return back to the top rated show.
"If the channel and the production house demands then I'll surely return back. As for now, I am taking a break since the hectic schedule has taken a toll over my health. I have not been keeping well since the last few days. I don't want to comment on the rumours of me throwing tantrums on the sets as there are other issues like work pressure and money. Differences are there but the media has hyped it up. Currently there are no hitches between us." says Sharad.
So, how will Sagar's character end in Dulhann? And being one of the main characters, won't his exit harm the TRPs?
According to Executive Producer, Shyam Bhattacharya, "He meets with an accident which becomes the cause of his sudden death. The situation demanded his death. Very soon there will be another twist in the tale and we'll be focusing on Vidya's condition after Sagar is gone."
But is there a possibility of Sharad re-entering the show in the near future? "We are planning his re-entry but the final call has to come from the channel. The talks are on between the two of them. We won't have any replacement if Sharad doesn't return," he adds.
When asked about Sharad's starry tantrums on the sets, he said, "There are no such problems between us. I share a good rapport with him but sometimes as the situation demanded we had to take certain calls. I want him to resume back," quips Shyam.
We spoke to Divyanka Tripathi aka Vidya to get her take on Sharad's exit from the show? "We have recently shot that scene where Sagar's car falls from a great height. It was a great experience while shooting. But I don't have a clear picture on what's next. You have to watch the show for further details," says Divyanka.
