They all bid Tushar goodbye. Bharat rushed towards his room, Sagar gave Vidya one glance before he grudgingly walked off. Vidya was about to leave when maaji stopped her...

Maaji: Aisa kyon karahi ho Dulhann?

Vidya: Main samjhi nahin

Maaji: (walks up to her) Shayad humein koi haq nahin hai pati-patni ke beech kuch bolne ka lekin woh hamara beta hai Vidya aur hum usse aise tadapta hua nahin dekh sakte.

Vidya: (subtly) Kyon...kya hua unko? Theek toh hai.

They both knew Sagar was far from ok.

Maaji: Kya hua hai, humein nahin pata, lekin aisi haalat uski tumhare vajeh seh hi ho sakti hai.

Vidya looked up at her tearfully and yet she did not seem to be surprised by her words.

Maaji: (Unintentionally points at her) Sagar tumhare saath jagarna pasand karega lekin tumhari chuppi bardaasht nahi hoti usse aur tum yeh achi tarah se jaanti ho. Abhi bhi woh yehi soch raha hoga ke usne kya galti ki ke tum usse itni naraz hogayi. Woh kuch kehta nahin magar woh andar hi andar apne aap ko doshi maanta hai.

Vidya looked guilty but there was still a part of her which refused to bow down. Her eyes had brimmed up without her even realising.

Maaji: (softens up) Sagar se baat karo beta. Agar usne galti ki hai toh usse samjhane ka ek moka toh doh. (she touched Vidya's cheek and soon after prodded away)

Vidya leaned her hand on the banister and gripped it tightly. She wondered if maaji was right? Vidya realised that she hadn't even asked Sagar for an explanation. So what if he came home late for a few days? He might have had some other work to do. It could be anything!

She sat herself down on the bottom stairs, broke down and put her hand over her mouth.

Vidya: (sobbing) Yeh maine kya kardiya... (She moved her hand towards hair as if she was going to pull them out)

After a few minutes of self-realisation, she combed her hair from her face and wiped her tears. She knew she had to talk to him...

Sagar: (on the phone) Nahin mein aaj nahin aa sakta...shayad kal bhi nahin.

He ended the phone call and frustratingly threw it on to the bed.

Vidya: Kaun tha?

Sagar: (surprised to see her in the room) Hmm? Nahi...koi nahi. Mera matlab dost tha.

Vidya: (walks towards him making Sagar nervous) Aap kuch chupa rahe hai?

Sagar: (becomes scornful) Yeh aadat tumhari hogi Vidya...meri nahin.

Vidya: (frowns) Matlab kya hai aap ka?

Sagar: (starts taking his coat off) Matlab tum achi tarah seh jaanti ho Vidya.

Vidya: (confused) Aap kya kehne ki koshish karahe hai?

Sagar: (bitter) Jab main baat karne ki koshish karta tumhare paas waqt nahin hota. (throws the coat on the bed) Lekin chupke chupke Tushar se milne ka waqt hai.

Vidya: (bewildered) Tushar??

Sagar: (raises his voice) Oh I'm sorry. Is it, Jaanu? Jaan? Whatever...

Vidya: Aap jaante bhi hai ke aap kya keh rahe hai?

Sagar: Nahin main kuch nahin jaanta (throws his arms in the air) Mujhe kuch pata nahin hai Vidya. Mujhe yeh bhi maloom nahin ke meri patni mujhse itni door door kyon rehti hai (his heart wells up and the tears start to come out from both pair of eyes). Jitna mein tumhari nazdeek jaane ki koshish karta hu, utna hi tum door jaati ho. Har baar...Har baar sochta hu ke main aaj kya karu keh jisse tum mujhse baat karo, shayad mein yeh karu toh tum has dogi. Main thak gaya hu.... (he drops himself on the bed). Main yeh tak nahin jaanta ke mera kasoor kya hai...

Vidya cries seeing him so distraught. She bends down on her knees in front of a seated Sagar who has his head in his hands. She brings his hands down causing him to look up..

Vidya: (holds both his hands) aapka koi kasoor nahin hai. (she brings his hands together to kiss and sob on them) I'm sorry...

She quickly wipes his tears but continues to cry herself.

Vidya: Galti meri thi, aap royiye mat please (pauses) Sab meri galat femi seh hua hai. (Sagar looked up exhausted and confused) Kuch din pehle...(stops herself from crying) aapne kaha the keh aap poora din office mein the lekin maine jab phone kiya-

Sagar continued to frown in confusion, his tears were drying up slowly.

Vidya: Aur phir chachi ne kaha keh agar mein moti hogayi toh aap... (starting to sound a little embarrassed) aap mujhe chor doge.

Sagar: (still confused) Chachi ne kya?? Mujhe samaj nahin- (pauses) Chachi ne tumhe yeh kaha?

Vidya: (cutely shakes her head) Unho ne kaha ke ek pati ne uski patni ko chor diya kyonki woh bahut moti hogayi thi aur phir...phir usne dusri shaadi karli. (By now Vidya had her hands on his knees)

Sagar: (shakes his head quickly)

Vidya: (quietly) Aap nahin karoge na aisa?

Sagar: (frowns again) Kya?? Main? (his eyes light up) Ek minute...ek minute. Don't tell me ke tum yeh soch rahi thi ke main tumhe chor ke kisi aur ke saath-?

Vidya: Mujhe nahin pata...aap mujhe hamesha moti kehte hai.

Sagar put his head in his hands in disbelief and ran them down his face.

Vidya: (worried) Aap phirse roh rahe hai??

Sagar starts laughing in his own hands and eventually looks at her.

Sagar: (holds her face) Tumhe sachme aisa lagta hai ke mein tumhe chor sakta hu?

Vidya shook her head as her eyes became moist.

Vidya: (holds his shirt gently) Lekin aapne mujhse jhoot kyon bola?

Sagar: (wipes her tears slowly) Kaisa jhoot?

Vidya: Keh aap office mein the...

Sagar: (sighs) Woh main nahin bata sakta...

Vidya: (expresses fake anger) Kyon?

Sagar: (bangs his head on her forehead) Tum hasogi...

Vidya: (pulls at his shirt so their faces come closer) Agar nahin bataya toh marugi!
