Success always tastes sweet. It doesn't matter if you're on Zee TV or SAB. Divyanka Tripathy has every reason to celebrate. Her newly launched show 'Mrs. & Mr.Sharma Allahbadwale' has zoomed to the number two spot on SAB. In fact, it was a golden week for the channel as it, crossed the 100 GRPs for the first time in its history. Before the start of the show, Divyanka was asked whether it's a drop in career for her to come to a middle-rung channel like SAB, after reaping the fame on Zee TV. Back then she'd sighed, "I knew, people will raise this point, but I want to tell everyone that I had snubbed a bigger GEC for the SAB show. Comedy is something which I always wanted to do. I've shed enough tears. Now is the time to make viewers smile" To hell with the critics, the viewers have simply smiled back at her in appreciation of her new avatar ' Rashmi Sharma. Does she feel vindicated now? "Honestly, as an artist you don't have to prove anyone wrong. People are free to express their opinions, but my job is simply to play the character given to me. I was very sure about my work and about my character. I'm not surprised by its success," said Tripathy. Success is nothing new for our girl who became the number one actress with 'Banoo Main Teri Dulhann'. Like Divyanka, two former soap queens, too came on SAB, but met with disappointment. We're talking of Smriti 'Tulsi" Iraani, whose painstaking show 'Maniben.com' will wind up in a week. The other lady in question is Juhi 'KumKum' Parmar who didn't impress much with 'Yeh Chanda Kanoon Hai'. So, that makes Divyanka an exception. Divyanka though refused to draw any comparison. "Smriti and Juhi are more experienced actors. They are my seniors." the actress said. More experienced, and seniors? Are you putting them in the veteran's bracket now? "No. I'm not saying that. I'm simply dedicated to my shows and my characters. I'm proud to have predecessors like them," Tripathy replied. Divyanka may not want to comment, but the viewers have clearly given the thumbs down to Maniben and Chanda Rani. It's Divyanka that rules their heart. |
