Santo turns into evil Soudamani

Buzz up!

Aasiya Kazi aka Santo of Bandini will now stun the audiences in an aggressive, negative and manipulative role which is totally unlike her earlier docile avatar. Full of life, Aasiya talks about the role, her life and on the look out for her Mr. Right.

What made you opt for Imagine's Maati Ki Banno?
The character of Soudamani that I essay in the serial is diagonally opposite to my last role - Santo in Bandini. Playing different roles is what every actor aspires and this seemed like a good change and a good chance to prove myself. The serial, plot and story are exciting. Also, I am enjoying being a mysterious woman in the show.

You play an obsessive ex-wife in the show. Tell us more about the role.
Soudamani loves her husband Vikram and wants to be with him. That is her simple logic. Though her entry happened a while ago, she was in a ghunghat and her face was revealed just yesterday. There is a huge suspense about her which will be gradually unfolded. The show will get more thrilling than before.

How does it feel to adorn this different look?
I wear a heavy embroidered sari, with a pallu on my head, loads of jewellery and loose hair. It is fun to dress up but only for a while. When you are shooting for over 12 hours, the heat, the weight of the clothes, etc gets to you. It does get uncomfortable to carry off a heavy look for days but as the character is wonderful and challenging, I guess it is worth it. I will manage.

How has life been post Bandini?
It has been good and not so good. Good because I got a nice break and could chill at home, eat and sleep. But I miss my Bandini team members, my unit as I got very attached to them. We all became a family. Our show ran for two years which is a really long time. Fans I meet, tell me to ask Balaji to make Bandini 2. I would love it if that happened. But I guess it is just wishful thinking.

People loved your pairing with Ronit Roy. What do you tell them when they meet you and tell you the same?
I feel overwhelmed. We looked good onscreen, our characters were very well written and the story too developed brilliantly. Even today, when I come across fans, they bring photos of us together from the show and ask me to sign them. I can't thank my fans enough for their love and support. It feels good to be remembered for your good work.

Has life changed after you became a celebrity?
Not at all. On a personal level, I am the same. Sure, I don't get enough time to spend with my family and friends. I don't have time for any personal life as work is a priority now. I enjoy working. Yes, people recognize me and want to meet me, take photos with me- but that is part of the job which I enjoy.

Tell us something that people do not know about you.
Santo was sober, quite and introvert and so people think I am the same in real life. But actually I am very talkative, funny and love to tease people. I can talk non stop for hours and my friends have to tell me to shut up. I am a prankster too.

Do you have anyone special in life?
Not yet. I guess when the right time comes; my Mr. Right will meet me.

aasiya is looking gorgeous and she will rock in her new role....she is an fantastice actress and a brave one to try something completely new and different to her previous role...

shows she is determined, courages and has a sound head on those shoulders....

Friends I've just seen the episode with AK entrance in the show. I must tell you even though cv didn't show her face the girl look convincing as obsessive lover. I was alittle scare of all that pink and how she kept producing those old love letters. 😆

i hope her character is not out and out negative,later on it turns out to be a positive one, all this while we have loved aasiya for her simplicity,so that how it should be i hope this production house provide her good sarees and matching blouse, not like bt .nowdays vashali is wearing santus sarees by the way in pavitra rishta

She she is thinking k bandini to be again onscreen would be wishful wat to think abt dis i think its really difficuilt to get our bandini back......annoyed for dis bt better think again in positive way..?
