I am a regular watcher. I didn't know that a printing or spelling mistake could lead one to make such a comment. May be my views on my country's acutest problem are not in tune with some people's thinking and therefore these comments about Dharamraj and Dharamdas. Rather unsporting .

There are thousands and lakhs of ways to solve this population problem of our country..

One or two tv shows won't help much.. I give guarantee of that.. 👍🏼 it is purely for entertainment.. and let's not bring the REAL world problem in the picture.. We are here for relaxation.. and not to find solutions or create awareness or campaigning or any other purpose😊

As long as we get recreation.. and happy watching the show, which gives us energy for the whole day to work, I dont see any prob in such issues in mega shows😎

Jz chill and think abt some other ways to fight with this prob.. like do a campaign in ur locality where u live.. or consult with some organizations.. India-forums.com and Bandini section under that, is not gonna help much in reducing or increasing population dude!👍🏼

I'm sorry but I agree with Sumiko with regards that dramas play a big part in shaping peoples thoughts and attitudes especially in 3rd World Counties.

Many people find a relationship with a favorite character or drama and use them to guide them in situations that happen in their lives.

Bandini has used this is the Hiten-Khemi-Arjun relationship 1stly by showing that a marital relationship between Mausi and nephew-even though not related by blood is wrong but then showing that the same relationship can be accepted when there is a higher relationship-that of a child.

Also seen in the child-bride storyline.

We can say chill out and relax because we understand that this is fictional and we can take it or leave it HOWEVER there are many out there who see these dramas as apart of their lives and can relate to whats happening e.g being poor and having someone else in charge of your life.

In another of Ekta soaps she showed a wife being raped by her husband and I thought she may actually take a stance upon rape but no she glossed over it.

That really angered me for we do learn from soaps and films both on a conscience and sub-conscience levels. And an example of this is that many on this forum can not see SanRaj do any wrong but look at what you call Arjun and Khemi- bacteria!

They're just playing the roles the CV have created for them in fact Benba and Maulik have done more harm to Santo then Arjun and Khemi yet most of the venom is directed at them.

Undoubtly I shall be 'shot' down for my defence of them but here this is to expected.

I thank Sumiko for bringing a valid point with regards to soaps and the messages they protray but I think this is the wrong site for it as seen it's a bit too deep for here.

shasha74,

Agreed with all you said about the soaps. What would you prefer that we do.Get all riled up on the forum? If someone really wants to bring about a change,Like Guddi said, why not organize something locally, connect with the organizations that are active on this issue. If again, you want a forum, then take into your consideration,a forum that is mainly meant for it.Dont pick out a show's forum, and then say that we are not "deep" enough for such an issue.Thats completely not acceptable.

Now,why we call bacteria,a bacteria. We didnt say he is a bacteria. The so-called creatives only made such a big blunder. And how exactly did you decide that we do not see anything wrong with SanRaj.Have you really gone through the various threads where we have discussed various issues.

Please go through them, and then make a conclusion.Dont jump into conclusions and make an unwanted ripple on a forum, where people come to relax and chat a little.

This is the forum for a BT show and definitely not the place for discussing social issues...Ekta never made any pretense that she was going to take up and highlight any social evils through Bandini, infact she stated very clearly in one of her interviews that the show was not about any social issue but just the story of a particular individual.

I object to the term child-bride being used for Santu because she was not -- she was of a legally marriageable age when she got married, just because she got married to a guy much older to her does not make her a child bride....if that was the case, most of the shows on TV currently are about child brides because most of the protagonists are around 18-19 and married.

I am not sure if serials have such a great influence on the lives of people coz if they did, after 8 years of BT shows dominance, I would be very worried about their effect on the Indian society....thankfully, no one seems to have taken all the crap they showed on these shows seriously and considered it all out-of-touch with reality.

As for Khemi-Arjan relationship, it is as wrong as Khemi-Hiten, doesn't matter how it was explained, but at least it was formed unknowingly unlike Khemi-Hiten's.

I think you are confusing the character with the actor, our hate is directed at Khemi not Leena, we all get that Leena is just playing a role as directed by CVs but whatever the reason, Khemis's character is totally destroyed, there is no redeeming it. She is nothing but a jealous, money-grabbing mercenary who would do anything to get her hands on M-riches. Her attitude towards Santu's as yet unconceived child is a proof of that. She is more despicable than Moti/Maulik because they have always hated Santu and have never pretended to do otherwise, but she is Santu's older sister who claims to have raised Santu like a mother, she is supposed to be her ally, not her enemy.

If you think we don't see SanRaj flaws than you obviously do not follow our discussions in this forum, DM has been blasted too many time to count and as for Santu, you don't need to go too far back, if you read the recent surgery discussion you will see we don't spare her as well. As for the name given to Khemi-Arjan, it was because of the CVs stupidity and anyways all the names given to them are well-deserved....for that matter we have names for DM and Santu as well.

We are not biased about SanRaj in this forum either! We blast every character if the CVs have messed up. Nobody is cricizing the actors, they are doing their jobs so well, that we believe they are the characters. We have blasted and complimented everyone at some time or other. We are not partial only to certain people!

Soaps are for entertainment purpose only, not to teach social morals to the masses of people. But the story has to be done responsibly, not misrepresenting certain aspects.

There are serials that mirror society .But does society mirror serials?
I doubt that. As chalia said all depends upon the upbringing and values inculcated by the parents of a girl who watches TV shows and tries to imitate her favorite character. I'm addicted to Bandini but that does'nt mean I 'm going to follow their steps.
Its just for entertainment. We come and enjoy here on this forum.
You told that illiterates copy the lifestyles from such shows.
I don't think so.Social evils such as child marriages, sati are still prevelant in rural India.
Bandini is not about a child marriage. The girl was eighteen at the time of her marriage.

This is the second time that you have tried to draw attention to DM and Santu having kids... First time round you expressed how you found it disgusting a man having kids with someone old enough to be his daughter... I didnt understand why age differences make such a big difference to people?? To be quite frank age is but a number and whether its disgusting or not it happens. My parents have an 11 year age gap between them and nobody cares. Yes maybe people find it not suitable for them to see an older man and younger women but look at mostly all celebrities. Everyone's favourite SRK: King Khan and his wife have an age difference that no-one seems to care if anything they are one of the most ideal couples. Catherine Zeta Jones and Micheal Douglas married and are a beautiful couple did anyone care? No because lifestyles have changed. Age gap doesnt bother anyone
Secondly, population of a country is a collective not a single person's responsibility. I dont get one thing, If a couple are well off and can afford to care, provide neccessities to a child and give good upbringing to a child then it shouldn't concern anyone how many children they have. Both DM and Santu can provide for their children, its not as if they are asking help from people. Population is a problem that the government should address and posting a thread on a forum will not make you heard. As much as you may dislike the over-population problems it is a political matter and honestly ask yourself one question:Do you really think limiting each family down to one child per couple is fair?
Thirdly, Yes media representations play a major part in people's lives and some to drastic extents but like someone stated its up to the upbringing and people to realise that this merely for entertainment purposes.. So why take it to heart and destroy the fun of watching it? If its so bad then simply choose a programme that suits your standards of what a perfect society should be like but wherever you watch it will be exactly the same. Family drama's tend to show big families, lavish houses and luxury lifestyles but is that all real for people watching these programmes? Maybe No.
On this forum, we joke and mock the characters, whether it be Santu or Arjan, Khemi or DM... all the characters have been bashed by us now and again. Bacteria was joke towards the character not Kunal or Leena. I know many of us adore Shardul dispite us hating Maulik... Some hate DM but totally love RR. This is for us to enjoy and discuss what we felt about the particular episode. If Moti does something, we never critise Rasikaji as she is merely portraying the character and a very good job she is doing. The more we hate Moti the more Rasikaji will be appreciated. We like discussing the programme and making jokes even when the CV's fail to deliver but by no means are we against the actors.
Lastly, This programme is for everyone to enjoy, it is medium in which we can forget our day to day lives and have a little fun. Half the stuff that these serials show are sometimes beyond reality but why do we still love them? Because its our way of trying to escape from all the stress of work, family, education. I didnt mean to offend anyone by my post I just think that its for entertainment purposes so just respect it as that and if you find that the episodes are evoking thoughts that you are offended by then just watch something different for a time period and come back at a later date to see if you can enjoy the programme without feeling offended...
