First up, this is not a post slamming any characters or view points but just to vent my disappointment with the writing.
Guess BT is up to their old tricks again. Seemingly, the only way to show's the female lead's strength is by weakening all the other characters. How is that true strength??
I liked Hiten & Khemi as a pair and individually cos they were strong, mature, capable and always had their priorties straight. But in order to canonize Santo, the creatives are making them act out of character. Hiten was brave enough to face hanging for a crime, he didn't commit yet suddenly he can't even tell DM the truth. Nothing could stop him from doing what he believed he was right but suddenly he is wavering and letting Santo call the shots. The Hiten that was shown until this point wouldn't be wasting a second listening or arguing with Santo but would have gone full steam ahead and taken charge of his life instead of just complaining and standing on the sidelines with no clear idea what to do next.
And when did Khemi become so weepy and indecisive and needy of Santo's approval and support. She was always characterised as knowing her mind and knowing what she has to do and not do. She knows she should stop the wedding to Shambu, it's the the right thing to do irrespective of what happens with her and Hiten and until now she has been shown not even to need Nanaji's approval to do what she believes is right.
The creatives are destroying these fine characters and ruining their own work, all just to make Santo into a heroine that everyone can admire and sympathise with and shed gallons of tears at her plight. But it doesn't seem to be working completely. Yes some do sympathise with her but others are just finding the character plain annoying. To me she is becoming unrealistic and unrelatable.
Why does every character on this show have to turned into an idiot in order to show how wise Santo is, how much she sacrifices , how much she cares, how deserving she is of everyone's respect. First of all none of DM's adult children can seemingly take charge of their lives or follow the correct path in life. They have already shown what major screw-ups in life Kaddu & Maulik are and now they turning one of the best liked characters in the show into another one. All it shows in the end is what a horrendous father DM is.
And what does it show by Santo taking it upon herself to solve all DM's children's problems herself without involving him. That he is incapable of being a good father and she has to cover for him??? Guess another character that will be destroyed to make a saint out of Santo.

Well written Post Pamela.......Agree with you here.
It's just a point of view....and need not be judged.
Argued yes, but not labeled right or wrong........
That said, I really think the Creatives are taking a hike right now coz the story has suddenly dipped in terms of characterization.
I was mainly attracted to the show coz of Hiten's Intense....courageous......assertive...un-bending & perceptive streak.
I agree with you, so far they have always shown him to stand tall for what he believes.....effective, mature & formidable.
A guy who is willing to walk to the gallows without a word...
Who is willing to serve his younger brothers sentence....
Who inspite of his intial hautiness & Privileged upbringing adjust so well in Madhav kaka's home....
Who takes his responsibilities serioulsy at Madhav Kaka's house...working...slogging....
Who when the whole Diamond-breaking scenario happens is willing to take up the cause of the village & fight for it even though he didn't have to........
Someone who has always been so meritorious.....how can now he suddenly turn into a villian just because he has proclaimed his love for Kheemi..... a selfish villian that too??
It has been very clearly shown that both were wary of their feelings from the moment go....
The strength was the uniqueness of their love story.....strong....silent........& mature....
But now that's out in the open......how can thhe become contemptible......???
I will leave santo out of this for now........but I see your POV that to prove her Mahatmagiri, to show her taller & wiser than the rest jing-bang...they are ruining the rest of the cast.......
I like her, don't get me wrong.....but right now the creatives are screwing up her well itched out characterization too by trying to show her overly wise & mature in anything & everything....really!!! *phew*
They should let Hiten & Kheemi be....and let fate & circumsatnces deal with their life rather than showing the whole Santo-Malkin scenario.
Sure, her repuatation is at stake here but so are two lives.

I just can't stress about how much I agree with you both, I started watching also because of Hiten because of the head strong character that he is, I mean it's not everyday a child goes against his father and has strong views and strong feelings towards the things he believes are wrong and right!
I think his character developed as he moved into the village to serve his time for the punishment but now Santo's urge to do the right thing is very annoying, I wish they'd stop this whole thing and bring Hiten out like in the episode today where Hiten had made his mind up about making Khemi his wife!
I was surprised at first but also very happy as I saw the character's charm coming back again! The Hiten we used to see is being shown but they need to slow it down and really stop the Santo malkin thing!

Santo's intervening everywhere is just annoying!! the detached way she is behaving is just baffling to me as a viewer...all her pleas abt maan of the family et al are just falling on deaf ears (atleast mine)...i fail to wrap my mind around this bit---she wanted to help Kadambari marry that guy (forget his name :S) going against her Malik's wishes but here she's forgoing two rel'ps for that her master's (if you will) wishes!

i mean to a certain point i get this whole POV...its because H and K were playing this game of evading their love for e/o!! i firslty blame them for things coming so far...then Santo just un-emotionally controlling everyone's lives...i admired her but i think the creatives are pushing her character too far!! i cudn't believe that Shambhu (props to you) had the guts to extricate the truth from Hiten....otherwise this wud prolly have led upto the truth unravelling at the mandap....who knows it still might but the crispness of the show is lost on me! for the past two days its been successful in royally pissing me off!
*EDIT*
altho not related to the post but the 'secret' is doing a number on me! it keeps getting me thinking abt the current rel'ps getting entangled in some sorta incestuous mess!! bleghhhhh!! 🤢 before anybody gets married i want the damned secret to be out!!

I agree to some extent with the original post but not with everything. Santo's character has not changed, she was always shown to be mature beyond her years, selfless, someone who always puts her loved ones first and always trying to solve the problems of her ungrateful stepkids, so in that way she is still the same. I do wish she would confide in DM though - he seems to listen to her and respect her opinion now. However I do agree that the characters of Hiten-Khemi has turned into selfish and spineless. I always liked Khemi, never thought much of Hiten though. His sole purpose in life seemed to be to antagonize DM and never truly understood why. He always thinks the worst of DM and then is proved wrong - two recent examples - he assumed that DM would never consent to Khemi-Shambhu's wedding but once Santu explained the situation to him, he whole-heartedly accepted it and even went to great lengths to help the couple begin their new life, and second with the whole land for the new factory situation, Hiten just assumed that DM was forcefully taking away land from the villagers and tried to become their champion without knowing that DM was actually helping them out by buying out their useless land for three times the price and then had to shut up his mouth. Also, I did not think he handled the diamond situation very well - I mean he threw away perfectly good diamonds, whoever does that? Even kids know diamonds are precious. Also, after all Santo had done for him with the diamond situation and also with the Kaddu situation he did not acknowledge her or thank her even once. He actually stood there watching while DM was throwing Santo out of the house after the Kaddu drama. I mean where did his self-righteousness go then, did he think throwing Santo out of the house was right - if he didn't then why didn't he try to stop DM? So I did not think much of Hiten to begin with but now he is turning out to be even worse than before. It is Khemi's character that is surprising to me, I thought her to be mature, sensible and responsible, she is proving me so wrong.

Sooooo agree, this relationship mess and the "secret " needs to be resolved before anybody gets married on the show - otherwise who knows what sort of weird relationships might result.

I think Santu is yet to learn to 'rely" on DM. Hopefully DM shows santu her "wrong" ways by telling her how he has decided that Khemi's lagan will be with Hiten tomorrow- he knows that santu was upset about something (that whole anklet stuff). He must have heard back either from Shambhu or Nanaji that Hiten and Khemi have something going between them. Eitherways, Santu will learn fromt he Hiten episode that she is not right always (she is over confident as being right with the Kadambari episode). Now Dm will take her down a notch or two and Santu will graciously accept that she was wrong.

The situation so succintly explained... I agree with you wholeheartedly.

In today's episode two scenes which did not match with Hiten's characterization hitherto:
1>When he failed to speak out his mind when DM asked him about the neclace
2>He lost the argument with Nanaji.
But even then two scenes where his character came forth in full force:
1>When he prevents his girl from being slapped and declares his decison to marry her
2>He wins the argument with Santo in the end saying he would prevent the wedding whatever the cost to keep his promise for seeing Khemi happy till the end.
The weaker scenes I believe have been put in to carry the story forward. The continuation of the story would be based on the premise generated from the above apparent weaknesses. Had Hiten spoken his mind today he wouldn't have gotten a chance to speak up and claim his girl in front of the village. This also might provide a role for Shambhu to play later when the wedding actually happens. Then the loss of argument with Nanaji might have provided the basis for the change of decison of the place of the wedding which later might play for Hiten's and Khem's benefit.
Unfortunately, I canot say the same for how the BT Team is treating Khemi's character. WIth Khemi, they have brought out the damsel in distress who is unable to do anything worthwhile. But even here, she might have felt constraint living in the Maalik's place and going through such emotional upheavel. Now that she would be back in her own house in her own village, she might get some more breathing space and I hope her character will get its strong streak back then.
I'm optimistic. Lets see what the BT creative team thinks.

I completely agree with you BC (poster). Even I got hooked to the show because of Hiten. Now just to show 'Bandini - a prisoner' who no longer is a prisoner as a Mahaan lady, they are sacrificing some very good characters of the show. If the creatives want to proclaim that she is the 'Malkin' why not have her help the villagers who will be having so many problems day in and day out. She could do social service and help some needy people instead of ruining the family members' life stories.

Well said Pam. I always found Hiten a better character than DM but they had to ruin it all to portray Santu as some mahaan and it is not working for me either. I always liked Santu's characterisation till now but now she is plain annoying with her impassive expressions and high handed orders.
I hope DM resolves this before it really gets out of hand and gifts that necklace to Khemi.
