Ofcourse he went soft on Santo in that scene .. but that was sort of an acceptance of the situation they were in , trapped in a single room .. and a fall that had made both of them uncomfortable because it was the first involuntary touch they had shared ..

He was not soft on her ... he was just awkward and uncomfortable .. that is why he behaved like that.. so that things could come back to his definition of normal his way ... I mean , cmon she was in pain and bleeding.. remember the scene where they were going to the award ceremony and her ear started bleeding, even though he was SO angry with her for wearing Subhi's clothes, he still gave her the tissue to wipe the blood, all by himself ..
