Bandini like Kasamh Se? Maybe...but...

...DM and Santo like Jai and Bani? I think not. Don't get me wrong, I was a huge JB fan (I say was because PD's departure killed JB for me, but I digress..)...and I really enjoy watching Bandini...

Anyway, I can see why people draw parallels between the two couples: older man-younger woman, differences in social stature, and marriages between the two were essentially forced. But yet there was one key element that Jai and Bani had that DM and Santo are missing so far: Passion. Even in his hatred for Bani, Jai acted in passion. It was that intensity that drew me (and others) towards the couple. In DM-Santo's case, there is much indifference on DM's part (although we do get to see peeks of his affectionate nature). I suppose the writers of this story are trying to portray this relationship in a different light, but to be completely honest, DM attitude towards Santo (when he cares to acknowledge her) seems more paternal than anything (I know..ewww 🤢)...I realize that it's going to be a slow uphill climb as far as the progress of their relationship, but if there is no intensity, I for one will not be able to accept DM-Santo as a true couple...
Your thoughts?

Hello Ada 😊
First of all, you have a wonderful name - one of my best friends shares that name with you 😃
Anyways, as far as the KS comparison goes, even I'm a KSian, and so I think I'm in a good position to make a post here. With Walia and Bani, I think that they were okay... with KS, I felt that the major parts of the show were a lift from the legendary Balaji Telefilms show, Kasautii Zindagi Ki - for example, I found the character of Walia to be a watered down version of Rishabh Bajaj (the original, and best urban business tycoon), and the age gap thing was also a direct lift from KZK.
And therefore, if there was ever going to be a claim that Bandini has things in common with another Balaji show, I'd go and say that it's best compared with the KZK - the original.
I also think that the stuff about a jodi's 'intensity' is pretty much down to the individual viewers... for example, I never saw much in Walia-Bani scenes... in fact, I used to think that their staring scenes were nothing more than time fillers 😳 Of course, at the same time, I'm sure that Walia-Bani fans found that jodi more effective than Bajaj-Prerna... and so all I'm saying is that it's down to individual viewer opinion 😊
But yeah, the DM-Santo treatment is much different to anything Balaji Telefilms has done for any of their shows until now... with Bandini, the focus seems to be more on a character driven story, rather than trying to get some romance going and seeing if some sort of story can be somehow fitted around it.
Both approaches can work for a show, but I truly believe that the character-driven-story approach works best for it. Bandini is based on a very good book, and it does indeed show 👍🏼 I for one, believe that the glory in Bandini will be when Santu gains respect from DM, rather than gaining romance.
For cute romance, I think that Kitani Mohabbat Hai is the best bet right now 😊
God bless.

You've made a valid point Mango-bhai (nice new username!) .. and I will agree with the fact that expecting 'passion' here is not something I would vouch for in a story like Bandini ..

Well .. it's a different take on the age difference between the two people here .. they are going to start off as strangers and the 'love' that they will share is not going to some explosive kind .. it's going to be deep and strong types ...

I SO agree with u Mango bhai ( even u also changed ur username👏)....First point is, the story of Bandini and the characterizations are based on the Gujrati Novel 'Retpankhi'....so it is clearly not a copied version of KS....

Secondly, in KS JB stuff were itself a FULL time copy of Rishabh-Prerna couple in KZK.....Rishabh-Prerna were the first couple in Indian Television who made sucha a huge hit inspite of their age differences....So Mr.JW was a copy of RB.....so it's better to compare Bandini with PRB...rather than JB😊

Agree with this part too👍🏼 except the bold line😳 I sometimes get to watch KMH and I feel it is sucha bore like any other BT showsBoss-Employee romance like Sujal-Kasish, Robbie-Kasturi and loads othersNothing new

Anyways, I am very happy with Bandini....Kekta is doing a great job with that !👍🏼Way to go !👏

I respect your opinion....... but
I think the whole pt of being different is not having a dhak dhak of jiyas....And honestly he is older than her and his passion for her would be kind of weird....I think the character is different... JW fell for a gal his daughters age and married Bani instead... where as DM never wanted to marry... its really normal for him to have these reaction......for santo
So where is the comparision.... They both are different they both were in different situation.... and if you are expecting a story whatever kind it might be.. it is inevitable to having male protogonist, female protogonist and villian... how can you say that it is copied from anywhere....every story is the same....It is inspired by a book which was mentioned... credit was given to it and show was launched...
FYI : Why is passion always termed as stuff between man and woman... If you are looking for passion in DM in general.. he has ample... for his work, for his wife, for his family... for his son...for his workers... for ppl who do wrong things to him....

I agree with what the others have replied in their posts. The other big difference is that in KS there was a dulhan exchange under the ghunghat. And then Jai Walia wanted revenge. Here both people know who they are getting married to and there is no revenge factor on either side.

Maybe JB had passion initially but there was no trust at all in their relationship. I do not expect to see passion in DM-Santu realtionship. It is going to be a journey of them quietly accepting each other as a part of their life. The realtionship will be based on the slow development of mutual trust, respect and understanding.

Yes romantic passion that is just not what this couple is about. Respect is going to be the corner stone of their marriage. I hope DM respects Santo for her goodness, and purity, and innocence. She could fill his life with some happiness, and boy he really needs it considering he talks to a dead portrait all times thinking it is alive or talking back. Time to get over his obsession.

🤣 See highlighted part in your post.

I admit that DM looked spectacular in that scene. But besides that it was really disturbing. Him discussing wardrobe with the portrait and asking how he looked. And then telling her/it 'pachi malisu' (See you later). Gosh I never knew a portrait could annoy me so much.
😆
