Perhaps some ppl may find that dying on that unfortunate day under Akhiraj's sward was a better choice for Nandni then living in that house suffering all the humiliation and atrocities of Harki , akhiraj and Kundan but for me making her survive that day was like having a chance of exploring other possibilities whenever they comes to her way in future to make her life better. And such an opportunity has come today in the form of education which will go long way to open her vision and other better options.
By keeping that child safe at that house even to let satisfy her own motherly instinct Mangla did a great service to Nimboli.
What chances were there that Nandini would have landed in safe hands if she was left at the door step of a temple?
In a village where ppl were ready to discard their own daughters , would they have accepted that orphan girl without knowing her cast and gave her a better life?
It was more possible that the girl would have fallen in wrong hands who might have sold her to gain few bucks.
After watching the working of police of that area I am sure they would have been least bothered about it.
Till now before Kunda'ns desires awake she was at least safe in that house. As soon as Mangla got to suspect his attempts to exploit Nandini , she not only gave her a knife to protect herself but also made her aware of the situations when it should be used.

All these years I agree with Esha , she provided Nandini all love and care that she could find a way to give ( she was not allowed to give freely ) which made her turn out a positive happy spirited child despite suffering all the humiliation at the hand of others.
She even dared to confront Akhiraj when it was necessary to help Nandini which was more than she could have done for herself.

All this can not weigh less with me only because Mangla could not do what was enough for the daughter of DC Shiv and social worker Anandi.
Let ppl mock her as great , it happened before and is not new for this forum.

@ Anshurg. Yes its true that every bird will leave its nest one day but till it is capable of flying it needs to be kept safe.
In Nimboli's case also she was kept safe till now. Obviously Nimboli will grow and will understand more and will question also more. At that point if Nimboli realises that what she has is not enough and wants to live differently, she can always make that choice.

Run away, move out, seek social service or whatever. One situation can lead to another and her life will be shaped. But till she is able to understand and grasp the worldly requirements she was kept safe and nurtured. Mangala needs to be thanked for that.

Now she got this opp to study only because she was alive. And then later she picked on Anandi's influence. But that cannot outweigh Mangala's contribution of keeping her alive, safe and giving her the basics to even be able to interact with strangers like A.

So can we thank Mangala for the nice 11 years she provided to Nimboli through this marriage. And a life where she was given safety, food and basics plus Mangala's warmth and comfort that any child would need while they are growing.

Some have suggested that she was better off thrown in a garbage bin. In that case even her first 11 years would have been more horrifying than what they are now.

If it is not for Mangala, the girl would have died and if lived, she would not have been this considerate, chirpy and happy that she is at present.

Thinking about the past 11 years reminds me of a funny oneliner I read about toddlers. "It said, babies are like miniature drunks. They poop, pee and vomit everywhere. They can be very demanding." Wonder who took care of nimboli during those days. am sure Harki and akhiraj didn't do that. Changini, am not sure as one needs either extreme love to do that or atleast get paid . So the option that's left is mangala as she said she loves nimboli. After doing so much to a child, I won't be surprised if one gets attached and maybe a bit possessive too.

No Mangala didn't take care of Nimboli. She was afraid of Harki for going near to Nimboli because till the time Pandit told harki-akhira that kundan is out of dosh, harki considered nimboli as her bindeeni. Mangala Nimboli had no relationship till the time Pandit told about this during kamli marriage drama. So For initial 11 years Mangala was invisible for Nimboli.
The first person who told nice things to nimboli about her was Anandi in that Forest.

Y/day when Kishore asked from Anandi to tell about the neighbourhood villages which can be in need of her services, she told him about many villages including Jhalra . It is clear from that ...

1 Jhalra is in neighborhood of Jaitser.

2 Education facilities in that place are very poor.

3 Anandi is aware of that.

Poor education facilities leads to blind belief in old age orthodox customs. When Anandi was aware of this fact and when she was committed to remove evil custom of bal vivah why she has not visited this place for 11 long years?

What stopped her in going to a neighbouring village for the purpose of making inquiries ? For interacting with women there and winning over their trust? Then she might have found about child brides of that village like Nimboli, Pampo and many others. Not only it could have saved them from years of misery but might have led A towards her own daughter.

Mangla and many other suppressed women who are forced to live a terrible life might have found the courage to revolt if they would have known that they too are entitled to live a better life and there would be someone to stand up with them.

But perhaps A thought that giving cards would be enough and ppl would themselves come forward to seek a better life.

sorry @anshurg. Missed this post.

Made a similar post in the Nimboli education thread.

Anandi knows about Jhalra's backwardness and yet never thought of enquiring about BVs in the village?

Jhalra is over 300 kms from Jaitser as per the episode in which Anandi first went to Jhalra to an orphanage. The figure was explicitly mentioned.

Whether 300 kms is deemed near or far can't say. How many villages within an area of 282600 sq kms given that Anandi knew her daughter was within 300 kms of Jaitser in some direction? Practically a large chunk of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan has a population of 73.5 million.

But it is ok...no matter! 😆

I sincerely hope that Disa did indeed clean Nandini's pee, poo and vomit and do expect that she looked after her with all the love and care that a mother should shower on her daughter.

After all that was the very purpose of keeping another woman's baby child in the house.

At the time of keeping her the thought did not once cross her mind that this was someone else's child and that her mother may be searching for this kid brought by her Devarsa. Not once did it occur to her to enquire from where the kid came from or that she could use her Devi powers in more beneficial ways to try and return the child. And even if she wanted to kerp her, then why get her married. Devi could have told Akhiraj that this child should be given to Mangala.

Well...so is life...It is not very easy to return or make attempts to return other people's belongings when they practically fall into one's lap.

Re Jaitser and Jhalra

The distance between Delhi an Jaipur is 280 km. And if the distance between Jaitser and Jhalra is more than that and despite that Anandi describes that as paas wala gaon, all I can say is maybe Anandi travels by helicopter and these are tiny distances for her.

Also this means that to contest a panchyat samiti election in his area, Akhiraj seeks the help of an MLA who is 300 kms away and not his own MLA who can actually help him garner votes.

And the jaitser MLA is interested in a school being built in pass wala gaon which is 300 kms away.
