Agree Anandi has been the most sensible in l'affaire Mannu-Pooja.

And yet Anandi did not show the same understanding when Neha (?) -- I forget the name of the girl -- was found drinking.

She was very severe with her, refused to understand her special circumstances, as a consequence of which the girl fainted. I don't know where that girl has gone now.

As for Mannu, I just cannot understand how a very sensible, rational and understanding boy can turn into a thieving, cunning, deceitful , brigand-like character.

Does he feel no attachment at all for any of the people he left behind?. If not for his parents whom he views as ogres, at least for his half brother to whom he was a guru plus sibling?

What did Pooja achieve? She has betrayed the two people she most loves and respects (aside from Mannu) -- her mother and Anandi.

Whether she initiated the elopement or not she did wrong by letting down these two women. One raised her, trusted her and the other rescued her from life in a hell hole and gave her a fresh lease of life and an opportunity to be educated. And is still defending her against all logic.

Pooja has also been unconscionable towards poor Nimboli who unknowingly took her place and is is paying an undeserved price for it.

Life gave her everything and she has chosen callously to throw that away -- with not a thought to Anandi or the child who by accident took her place in hell.

Grownups also do not think when they fall in love. That does not mean they are callous.

I hope Pooja becomes instrumental in Nandini's rescue in some way.
That's the only way they can show that helping someone does some good in life.

Anandi was very rude and harsh -- quite like Ganga -- and let the girl sit in the sun because of which she fainted.. It is later, after the girl apologised a hundred times, that she was taken back.
There were many comments in the forum about how A could have handled the girl with more tact and understanding. I was just remembering that.

Throwing away education and a hard earned good life for underage marriage is not callous?

It can be called callous, carelessness, unthinking or stupid.

But those who are in love dont think all these things. If they think, this would not have happened.

The kids are not around right now. Finding them and ensuring that they are alive and well is the first priority.
-------------

She punished her for breaking rules - The girl went and sat in the hot sun.

When she saw how her mother endorses her daughter's habit of boozing she took the child back against her mother's wishes.
