Anandi remained with less education and was made to do household works - it was more due to DS's rigid frame of mind (and her parent's hurry to do gauna) and less due to bal-vivah. Generally, in bal-vivah girls remain with their parents and go to sasural after gauna, which takes place a lot later.

Even after marriage in adult stage - they show Anandi returning to Singhs is just a little short of glorification of bal-vivah. Even a glamorous, bubbly Nimboli does not make impression that she is suffering. And before anybody assume that I want to see torture - I make it clear - I do not want to see torture - but make the tortured girl look and behave like a tortured girl. Otherwise it will be same feeling which emerged when Rasika was weeping in front of Shiv telling about her torture...

Rasika was an adult while Nandini is too young. We have seen how roughly Harki and her husband handled a small crying infant. Anandi was brought into BH with her parents consent and blesssings and Nandini was not. Rasika was clever in that she convinced Shiv about her torture and sob story. Only the viewers could see her deceit.
As you said, Bal Vivah can work in some cases but the consequences like early motherhood can be disastrous.

I gave rasika's example because she looked fake and was indeed fake. Here, Nandini's torture is reality - but the way she looks and behave - the torture story looks fake. They cannot ditch glamour. A tortured child will not look and behave like Nandini. If she was indeed beaten up (like they did show with burning log) - her body would be filled with scars and she would be scared in front of her in-laws. If Kundan was indeed so rough (as he was shown during holi) she would not have dared playing pranks on him. If Nandini was doing all the household works right from childhood - she was not roaming freely for first few episodes. I am just pointing out the dichotomy in what they preach/want us to believe and what they show. Compare this with little Ichcha - she did look like a servant's daughter or Chakor ( seen her only in ads as I deliberately do not watch any new serial because I know that they will spoil the story after some time) who looks believable.

Maybe they want to present a different type other than the usual types. A chirpy girl who will not allow herself to become a sad girl. If it is physical torture only occasionally, it is believable. I watched Uttaran only due to child Ichcha and I dont feel like watching Chakor story.

It would have been easy to believe their story if the girl was all happy when alone or with Mangla/her caretaker, but serious and scared in presence of Harki/Akhera/Kundan. They could show her with scars and instead of watching beating - it would have made more impact if the girl was scared in presence of Harki and just looked at her scars. There should be coherence in what we see and we are suppose to believe.

Nandini's cheerfulness looks more like a voluntary thing from her side.It is her will to be happy and It's like she decided to have fun no matter what happens in her life.It is easy to be bogged down by life.It is her way diverting herself from the monotony of hard work and torture.
She does say frequently to her friends and everybody when ever they caution her - All she says at the most they will beat her up or lock her inside the store room it doesn't matter any more.
Too much torture makes people tolerant and immune to it.They stop getting affected by it.
They may cry for sometime and later on forget about it.
Sometimes kids brought up in conditions like this they stop being sensitive to other's pain too.Just because they survived every one else also would survive.
Nandini if she lives for longer time the chances are that she will become more like Dadisa of the olden days - cunning manipulative ruthless and tough and arrogant too.

So, we are supposed to believe that there are children who are not scared of their tormentors even though they are beaten up mercilessly. But do such children also have some magic formula that make them free of any scars of torture? How do such children find time to do make up, when they are not supposed to get even enough sleep and were made to do work instead of sleeping?

I only hope that they will not turn Anandi into Damini,. Jagya into Jogi thakur, Shivam into Ichcha, Abhi into Tapasya.
Changing genders!
Abhi leaving Shivam was like Tapasya leaving Ichcha at the outing. Are they copy pasting with some gender change?

Anani met singhs : becoz she wax to marry their son jagya
anandi served singhs: becoz she became a daughter inlaw of that house
anandi formed a strong relation with singhs and started considering BH her home: becoz singhs were her family( her inlaws) and she was taught to think for them first
singhs cared about anandi: becoz she was their daughter inlaw who has sacrificed alot in name of relation they shared

Showing Singhs-Anandi string bond is not wrong but to show it at the cost of other relations is wrong...Anandi could have shown staying with Shekhars but receiving daughter like love and care from Singhs too. Anandi could have live in Udaipur with her kids an supporting her biological father and receiving support from Singhs! That would have been acceptable and would have showed Singhs' affection for Anandi very well but now by letting only Singhs remain a part of Anandi's life is sort of pormoting bal vivah. since they have established Shekhars and Khajan singh has played no role in being Anandi's support, its good Anandi got married at childhood and so got to meet Singhs and form a relation with them else wonder who would have helped her?

Now we see mostly recycled story with some cosmetic changes here and there...
